# Racing HYROX for charity: fundraising, charity auctions and lower fees

Yes, you can race HYROX for charity, and there are two ways to do it. You can buy an official charity ticket, which is discounted and often available after a race sells out, in exchange for a fundraising minimum. Or you can buy a normal ticket and fundraise on your own terms. This guide covers how HYROX charity tickets work and what they cost, the minimums by region, what happens if you fall short, how to actually raise the money, and how a verified charity auction on RoxSkin lets sponsors fund your cause while you pay half our usual commission.

For general ticket prices and refunds, see [how much HYROX costs](/guides/hyrox-tickets-cost). For cheaper entry in general, see [HYROX discount codes](/guides/hyrox-discount-code).

## Can you race HYROX for charity?

Yes. As of October 16, 2026, HYROX runs an official charity program at most of its events, and nothing stops you from fundraising on a regular ticket.

Your options:

- **Official charity ticket (Race for Impact).** HYROX's global charity partner is High Impact Athletes (HIA). You buy the charity ticket option when you sign up, and HIA emails you to set up a fundraising page on raceforimpact.com.
- **UK and Ireland: Macmillan Cancer Support.** In the UK, HYROX also partners with Macmillan, which sells its own charity places and supports racers who already have a ticket.
- **Your own ticket, your own charity.** Buy a regular entry and raise money for any registered charity through that charity's official fundraising page. There's no minimum, and you choose the cause.
- **A charity auction.** Let sponsors pay for logo spots on your body on race day, and pass the money to your charity. More on that below.

## How do HYROX charity tickets work?

You pick the charity ticket at checkout, pay a discounted entry price, and commit to raising a minimum amount before race day. HIA then helps you set up a fundraising page and supports you with tips.

Key rules from HYROX's official Race for Impact page:

- **You choose a cause area, not a named charity.** The five areas are Global Health, Climate Solutions, Mental Health, Women's Empowerment and Animal Welfare. HIA picks the charities within each area.
- **Team minimums are combined.** For Doubles and Relay, the target applies to the whole team, not each person.
- **Charity tickets are non-refundable** and can't be converted to a regular ticket.
- **Lite Flex** lets you transfer the place. At Hong Kong, the person who takes it over also takes on the fundraising target.
- **Can't race?** Contact customer support at least a week before the event. Money already raised still goes to the charity.
- **Perk:** charity racers get fast-lane check-in.

Charity tickets also matter because of sell-outs. HYROX and trade press both describe charity places as a way into races that are otherwise sold out. If your target race is gone, check its event page for the charity option before you give up.

## How much is the fundraising minimum?

It depends on the event and the currency, and even official pages don't agree with each other. Here's what we found on October 16, 2026:

| Event or source | Singles | Doubles (team) | Relay (team) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Race for Impact page (global) | €300 | €500 | €800 |
| HYROX DACH page | €500 | Not listed | Not listed |
| San Diego event page | US$600 | US$1,200 | US$1,000 |
| Hong Kong, Jan 7–10, 2027 | HK$3,000 | HK$6,000 | Not listed |
| UK (Macmillan or HIA) | £400 | £800 | £1,200 |

The UK figures come from Macmillan's Manchester 2027 page and July 2026 trade press. Washington, D.C. listed a US$400 target on a US$148 charity Singles ticket (see our [ticket cost guide](/guides/hyrox-tickets-cost)).

## Is a charity ticket cheaper than a regular ticket?

Upfront, yes. Overall, no, unless you'd have fundraised anyway. HYROX says charity tickets are discounted but doesn't publish the discount, and you're committing to raise several times the saving.

Two real examples:

- **Washington, D.C.:** a charity Singles ticket was US$148, with a US$400 fundraising target.
- **Manchester 2027 (Macmillan):** £80 to register for a solo charity place, plus a £400 pledge (not counting Gift Aid). Doubles cost £78 each, with an £800 joint pledge.

So think of a charity ticket as a way to get into a sold-out race and raise money for something you care about, not as a discount. By HYROX's own figures, 85% of HIA racers hit their goal within 14 days, and that its average target is about 40% lower than charity places at major marathons.

## What happens if you don't hit your fundraising target?

It depends on the region, so read your event's charity ticket terms before you buy.

- **Race for Impact (global page) and San Diego:** you can still race, but you're barred from buying charity tickets in the future. Regular tickets stay available.
- **HYROX DACH page:** if you don't reach the target, you have to pay the difference yourself to be allowed to race.
- **Macmillan places:** the Manchester page doesn't say. Ask Macmillan before you sign up.

The safe plan: assume you might have to cover a shortfall, and start fundraising the week you book, not the week before the race.

## How do you fundraise for a HYROX race?

Ask early, ask personally, and give people a story they can follow. Most of your money will come from people who know you, so the goal is to make it easy and timely for them to give.

**Before you start**

- **Use the charity's official page,** such as your raceforimpact.com page, the Macmillan platform or the charity's own fundraising page. Money goes straight to the charity, and donors trust it.
- **Seed your own page.** A first donation from you shows people you're serious.
- **Set a target a little above the minimum,** so a slow week doesn't put you at risk.

**Ways to raise more**

- **Post your training.** A weekly update with a number (a sled time, a [wall ball](/stations/wall-balls) set, a 1 km split) gives people a reason to check in. Our [beginner training plan](/guides/hyrox-training-plan-beginner) gives you a ready-made story arc.
- **Run a gym challenge.** Ask friends to pledge per wall ball, per [burpee broad jump](/stations/burpee-broad-jump) or per minute you take off a [SkiErg](/stations/skierg) time trial.
- **Ask your employer about matching.** Many companies match staff donations. Check the rules before race day, since some schemes have deadlines.
- **Race as a team.** A [Doubles](/guides/hyrox-doubles-strategy) pair or a [Relay](/guides/hyrox-relay-guide) team shares one target and can reach twice the network.
- **Wear it on the day.** A charity shirt or costume makes great photos, but check [what's not allowed](/guides/hyrox-rules-what-is-not-allowed). Helmets and breathing apparatus are banned even as costume.

**In the UK, ask donors to tick Gift Aid** if they're UK taxpayers. It lets the charity claim an extra 25p for every £1 at no cost to them.

## Can sponsors fund your charity race?

Yes, and it can be the quickest way to reach a target: a few local businesses pay for logo spots, and you send that money to your charity.

On RoxSkin, that's a **charity auction**. Here's how it works:

1. **You get a 3D avatar with 15 sponsor spots** and open an auction for your race.
2. **Brands bid for spots.** The 14 standard spots (chest, shoulders, biceps, forearms, back, quads, calves) start at $50, and the price doubles each time another brand takes a spot over: $50, $100, $200, $400. The premium glutes spot starts at $250 and goes up $150 per takeover.
3. **Outbid brands are refunded in full,** automatically. Only the brand holding a spot at the deadline pays.
4. **You pledge a share of your proceeds to the charity,** anywhere from 10% to 100%. The share is shown to sponsors.
5. **We take half our usual commission** on charity auctions.
6. **The winning logos are printed as skin-safe temporary tattoos** you wear on race day.

Some example math, before commission:

- **Every spot sold at its opening price:** 14 × $50 + $250 = **$950.** That clears a £400 UK minimum or a HK$3,000 Hong Kong minimum on its own.
- **A small local version:** five spots held at $50 and one fought over to $200 = **$450.** With a 100% pledge, that alone hits most Singles minimums.

These are examples, not promises. What you raise depends on your network and how hard you share your page. For how to pitch brands, read [how to get sponsored for HYROX](/guides/how-to-get-sponsored-hyrox).

If you're on an official charity ticket, you can pass your sponsorship money on to your fundraising page. Ask HIA or Macmillan how they'd like it recorded so it counts toward your target.

## Why do sponsors trust a verified charity badge?

Because anyone can say "all proceeds go to charity." A sponsor wants proof the charity is real and that the money will get there. That's why RoxSkin only shows a charity once we've checked it.

How verification works:

- **You give us the charity's registered name and number,** exactly as they appear on the official register.
- **We look it up on the official register** for its country, such as the UK Charity Commission, the IRS Tax Exempt Organization Search, Hong Kong's Inland Revenue Department list, Australia's ACNC, Ireland's Charities Regulator or Canada's CRA. This usually takes up to two working days.
- **Only then does the badge go live.** It shows the charity's name, registration number and country, the share of your proceeds it gets, and the date we verified it. Sponsors see the same statement before they pay.
- **Change the details and it goes back to review.** Nothing unverified is ever shown to sponsors.
- **Misuse has consequences.** Profiles that misuse the badge are removed and sponsors refunded.

You're still the one passing the money on, so keep your donation receipts. Sponsors may ask for them.

## Is a sponsorship the same as a donation?

No, and it's worth being clear with sponsors about this. A business that pays for a logo spot gets advertising in return, so its payment is a sponsorship, not a charitable gift, even when you pass the money on.

What that means in practice:

- **Don't promise sponsors a donation receipt** or a tax deduction for their payment. They may be able to treat it as a marketing cost, but that's for their accountant to say.
- **Gift Aid is for personal donations** from UK taxpayers to a charity. Don't tick it on money that came from a sponsor.
- **Your own donation** of the money to the charity is a separate step. Whether you can claim tax relief on it depends on your country, and sponsorship income itself may be taxable. Check with a tax adviser locally.

## Can you wear sponsor logos at HYROX?

Usually without trouble on race day, but read your event's terms first. HYROX's rulebook has no rule on logos or tattoos. However, HYROX's regional ticket terms (we checked the 26/27 versions) say athletes shouldn't promote a business that isn't contracted to the organiser or HYROX in connection with the event, and the stated penalty is removal without a refund.

We haven't found HYROX enforcing this against amateur racers, and press reports say its elite races allow sponsor tattoos within size limits. Still, check your event's terms on [https://hyrox.com/](https://hyrox.com/) before you list, and be ready to cover a logo if an official asks. RoxSkin is independent and not affiliated with HYROX.

## FAQ

### Can you race HYROX for charity?

Yes. You can buy an official charity ticket through HYROX's Race for Impact program with High Impact Athletes, take a Macmillan charity place in the UK, or fundraise for any registered charity on a regular ticket. You can also run a charity auction and pass sponsor money to your cause.

### How do HYROX charity tickets work?

You choose the charity ticket when you sign up, pay a discounted entry, and commit to a fundraising minimum. HIA then helps you set up a page on raceforimpact.com, and you pick one of five cause areas. Charity tickets are non-refundable and can't be converted to regular tickets.

### What is the HYROX charity fundraising minimum?

It varies by event. HYROX's global page lists €300 for Singles, €500 for Doubles and €800 for Relay teams. Other events list more: £400 for UK Singles, US$600 at San Diego and HK$3,000 at Hong Kong in January 2027. Check your event page.

### Are HYROX charity tickets cheaper?

The entry price is lower, but you commit to raising much more than you save. In Washington, D.C., a charity Singles ticket was US$148 with a US$400 target. Treat it as a way into sold-out races and a reason to fundraise, not a discount.

### What happens if I don't reach my HYROX fundraising target?

It depends on the region. HYROX's global page says you can still race but can't buy charity tickets in future. The DACH page says you must pay the shortfall to compete. Read your event's charity ticket terms before you buy.

### Can I get into a sold-out HYROX race with a charity place?

Often, yes. HYROX and its UK partners describe charity places as a route into races that are otherwise sold out. Check the event page for a charity ticket option, and be ready to commit to the minimum.

### How can sponsors help me fundraise for HYROX?

Sell logo spots and pass the money to your charity. On RoxSkin, a verified charity auction shows sponsors which registered charity you're racing for and what share they get, and we take half our usual commission. Opening prices are $50 per standard spot and $250 for the glutes spot.

### Is a sponsor's payment tax-deductible as a donation?

Generally no. A sponsor gets advertising in return, so its payment isn't a charitable gift, and you shouldn't promise a donation receipt or add Gift Aid to it. Sponsors and athletes should check the tax treatment with a local adviser.

### How does RoxSkin verify a charity?

You give us the charity's registered name and number, and we look it up on the official register for its country before any badge appears. The badge shows the registration number, the share pledged and the date we checked it. If you change the details, it goes back to review.
