# How much does a HYROX race weekend really cost? Budget by city

A HYROX race weekend costs little more than the ticket if you race at home, and roughly several hundred to well over a thousand dollars once you add flights and hotel nights. The ticket is usually the smallest part of a travel weekend: the hotel is the biggest variable, and the airport transfer can be $2 or $35 depending on whether you take the bus or a cab. Below is a city-by-city table of transfers and where to stay, three example budgets, and the ways to bring the total down, including letting a sponsor pay.

For ticket prices, Flex and refunds, see [how much HYROX costs](/guides/hyrox-tickets-cost). This guide is about everything around the ticket.

## What does a HYROX race weekend cost in total?

Add up seven lines and you have your weekend:

- **Ticket and service fee:** about £128 for Singles in London or €119 in Hamburg (October 2026), plus a checkout fee. Doubles and Relay cost less per person.
- **Flex add-on (optional):** cheap insurance if your plans might change.
- **Getting there:** $0 if you're local, a train fare, or flights.
- **Airport to venue:** from a couple of dollars by bus or metro to $30+ by taxi.
- **Hotel:** zero to three nights, depending on distance and your wave time.
- **Food and race fuel:** budget roughly what you'd spend on a weekend away, plus your race-day nutrition.
- **Extras:** spectator tickets for supporters (about £10 in London), race photos and a post-race meal.

Three rough tiers:

| Your situation | What you pay for | Rough total |
|---|---|---|
| Local race | Ticket, transit, food | Ticket + about $30–80 |
| Short trip (train or short flight) | Ticket, travel, 1–2 nights, food | Several hundred dollars |
| Long-haul race | Ticket, flights, 2–3 nights, food | Often $1,000+ |

Plug your own numbers into the [HYROX race cost calculator](/tools/hyrox-race-cost-calculator). It pre-fills the city and dates for upcoming races.

The 2027 World Championships are also at AsiaWorld-Expo, in June, so the same transfer notes apply; see the [World Championships race guide](/races/hyrox-puma-world-championships-hong-kong-2027). For every other city, browse the [race calendar](/races).

A few patterns jump out:

- **Venues on a rail line are cheap to reach.** London, Hong Kong, Helsinki, Copenhagen and Paris all connect the airport to the venue by train or metro.
- **Taxis cost about 15 times the bus.** In Nashville and Tampa, a $2 bus replaces a $30–35 cab. That's real money if you're racing on a budget, though a cab can be worth it with a heavy bag after a late wave.
- **"Close" usually means pricier.** In Paris, the 8th arrondissement is walkable but expensive; one Metro line gets you there from cheaper areas without a change.

## How much should you budget for the hotel?

We don't print nightly rates per city, because they change daily and climb fast on race weekends when thousands of athletes book the same few streets. As a planning figure, our [ticket cost guide](/guides/hyrox-tickets-cost) uses about £100–300 for one to two nights in London. Check live prices for your dates the day you buy your ticket.

How to set your hotel budget:

1. **Count the nights from your wave time.** An early morning wave usually means arriving the night before. An afternoon wave within a two- or three-hour train ride may need no hotel at all. Flying long-haul, plan for at least two nights so you aren't racing off a red-eye.
2. **Price two options.** Compare a walk-to-venue hotel with a cheaper base on a direct transit line, and add the round-trip fare to the cheaper one. In Osaka, Namba is a ¥290 metro ride from INTEX. In Hong Kong, Central adds an Airport Express fare each way.
3. **Book refundable, early.** Book when you buy your ticket, and pick a refundable rate in case your plans change.
4. **Look for kitchens.** Several hotels in our city guides have kitchens, such as the Residence Inn in Nashville, Zoku in Copenhagen and Capital Centre Arjaan in Abu Dhabi. Cooking your own pre-race dinner and breakfast saves money and keeps your fueling familiar.
5. **Check partner offers.** In Asia Pacific, Hyatt is HYROX's official regional hotel partner and offers member discounts at participating hotels. Our [discount code guide](/guides/hyrox-discount-code) covers what's verified.

## Three example race weekend budgets

These examples use real ticket and transfer prices, but the flight and hotel figures are placeholders, not quotes. Swap in your own numbers in the [calculator](/tools/hyrox-race-cost-calculator).

**1. Local: Hamburg, racing from home**

- Singles ticket: €119 plus service fee
- Transit to the Messe and back: ~€8
- Food and race fuel: ~€40
- **Total: about €170–180**

**2. Short trip: Hamburg from elsewhere in Europe**

- Singles ticket: €119 plus service fee
- Return flight or train: €150 (placeholder)
- Airport S-Bahn and U-Bahn both ways: ~€8
- Two hotel nights at €150 (placeholder): €300
- Food: ~€80
- **Total: about €660–680.** Racing Doubles and sharing the room cuts the hotel to €150 each and drops the total to roughly €510.

**3. Long-haul: Hong Kong, January 2027**

- Singles ticket: HK$1,080 (about US$140)
- Return flights: US$900 (placeholder)
- Three hotel nights at US$200 (placeholder): US$600
- Airport Express and local transit: ~US$30
- Food: ~US$150
- **Total: about US$1,800.** The ticket is under 10% of the bill.

The lesson from all three: once you travel, the ticket barely matters. The hotel and travel decide your budget.

## How can you make a HYROX race weekend cheaper?

The biggest savings come from who you race with, which race you pick and how you get there.

**Split the costs with a team**

- **Relay is the cheapest entry.** In London it's about £75 per person against £128 for Singles, and four people can share rooms and taxis. See the [relay guide](/guides/hyrox-relay-guide).
- **Doubles saves on the room more than the ticket.** The per-person price is only slightly lower, but sharing a hotel halves the biggest cost. Our [Doubles strategy guide](/guides/hyrox-doubles-strategy) covers picking a partner.
- **Lock dates before anyone pays.** Team partners can't be swapped without the right add-on, so agree on the race first.

**Pick the right race**

- **Go where you can take a train.** Cutting out flights is the single biggest saving.
- **Favor venues on a rail line.** A $2–5 transfer beats a $30 taxi each way.
- **Avoid sell-out scrambles.** If a flagship race sells out, a last-minute backup city often means expensive flights. Be ready when tickets open, or pick a regional race with less demand.
- **Volunteer first.** In some regions, a volunteer shift earns a free or discounted entry. Rewards differ by region; the [discount code guide](/guides/hyrox-discount-code) lists what's verified.

**Trim the weekend itself**

- **Use public transport,** and keep one contactless card for the whole trip where cities cap daily fares.
- **Pack your race fuel** rather than buying it at the venue. Our [race-day packing list](/guides/hyrox-race-day-packing-list) and [race nutrition guide](/guides/hyrox-race-nutrition) cover what to bring.
- **Decide on Flex at checkout.** It's an extra cost, but it can save the whole ticket if you get injured. It can't be added later.
- **Skip the extra night** if your wave and travel allow it. Our [race week guide](/guides/hyrox-race-week) helps you plan the days before.

## Can sponsorship pay for your race weekend?

Yes, it can cover part or all of it, and you don't need to be an elite athlete. Local businesses, your gym and brands in your network will pay to be seen by the people who follow your race.

On RoxSkin, you open an auction for a race and brands bid for spots on a 3D avatar of you. Winning logos are printed as skin-safe temporary tattoos you wear on race day. The pricing:

- **14 standard spots start at $50,** and the price doubles each time a brand takes one over: $50, $100, $200, $400.
- **The premium glutes spot starts at $250** and rises by $150 per takeover.
- **Outbid brands are refunded in full,** so only the final price counts.

Before RoxSkin's commission, every spot sold at its opening price comes to $950: enough to cover the local Hamburg weekend several times over, or roughly the whole short trip. A long-haul weekend needs a few spots fought over. Marc Lou's 2026 auction raised $112,000 for one race; that's the extreme end, not a typical result. Read [his story](/marc-lou-hyrox), and see [how to get sponsored for HYROX](/guides/how-to-get-sponsored-hyrox) for how to pitch brands.

**Check your event's terms first.** HYROX's regional ticket terms say athletes shouldn't promote businesses that aren't contracted to the organizer in connection with the event, and the stated sanction is removal without a refund. Rules vary by event, so read your event's terms before you sell spots. RoxSkin is independent and not affiliated with HYROX.

## FAQ

### How much does a HYROX race weekend cost?

Racing locally, little more than the ticket: roughly £128 or €119 for Singles plus transit and food. A short trip with one or two hotel nights usually runs to several hundred dollars, and a long-haul race often passes $1,000 once flights are in. Use the race cost calculator with your own numbers.

### How much is a hotel for a HYROX race?

It depends on the city and how close you stay, and prices rise on race weekends. As a planning figure, budget about £100–300 for one to two nights in London. Compare a walk-to-venue hotel with a cheaper base on a direct transit line, and book a refundable rate when you buy your ticket.

### How many nights should I book for a HYROX race?

One night before is enough for most morning waves if you're traveling a few hours. With an afternoon wave and a short train ride, you may not need a hotel at all. If you're flying long-haul, plan two or three nights so you aren't racing straight off a flight.

### What's the cheapest way to get from the airport to a HYROX venue?

Usually public transport. Many venues sit on a rail line, such as ExCeL London on the Elizabeth line, Hong Kong's AsiaWorld-Expo one Airport Express stop from the airport, and Helsinki's Messukeskus by Pasila station. In Nashville and Tampa, a $2 bus replaces a $30–35 taxi.

### Which HYROX race is cheapest to travel to?

The one you can reach by train or car. After that, pick a venue on a transit line, and book early so a sell-out doesn't push you to a pricier backup city. Ticket prices are set per event and change, so check the official page for each race.

### How can I make a HYROX race weekend cheaper?

Race Relay or Doubles and share rooms, choose a race you can reach without flying, use public transport, and bring your own race fuel. In some regions, volunteering can earn a free or discounted entry. Sponsorship can cover the rest.

### Can a sponsor pay for my HYROX race weekend?

Yes. On RoxSkin, 14 body spots start at $50 and a premium glutes spot at $250, with prices rising as brands outbid each other. Selling every spot at its opening price raises $950 before commission. Check your event's terms on promoting non-partner businesses before you sell spots.
