## Race weekend guide (checked 2026-10-15)

AirAsia HYROX Seoul sold out within an hour of tickets opening and grew from two days to three. This year it moves from COEX in Gangnam to KINTEX, the huge exhibition center in Goyang, just northwest of the Seoul city limits. The one thing to know is that the venue isn't in central Seoul. The new GTX-A express line gets you from Seoul Station to KINTEX in under 20 minutes, so you can stay in the city or sleep next to Ilsan Lake Park and walk to the start.

### Race weekend at a glance

- **Dates:** Friday 13 to Sunday 15 November 2026
- **Venue:** KINTEX (Korea International Exhibition Center)
- **Address:** 217-60 Kintex-ro, Ilsanseo-gu, Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do 10390, South Korea
- **Nearest public transport:** KINTEX station on GTX-A, about a 10-minute walk, or Daehwa station on Subway Line 3, about a 15-minute walk
- **Divisions:** Open, Pro and Adaptive singles; Open and Pro Doubles; Relays
- **Schedule:** Waves run all three days, with the last wave expected to start around 8:00 PM. HYROX shares individual start times about three days before the event.

### Getting to the venue

**From Incheon International Airport:** Airport limousine bus 5600 runs from Terminals 1 and 2 to the "KINTEX Exhibition Center 1" stop. A concert-ticketing guide lists the last 5600 back to the airport at 7:50 PM, so check the current timetable if you're flying out on race night.

**From Gimpo Airport:** Take the Seohae Line toward Daegok, change to Line 3 at Daegok and get off at Daehwa, then walk about 15 minutes or hop on a local bus.

**From central Seoul:** GTX-A runs from Seoul Station to KINTEX station in about 17 minutes with no transfers. From Exit 1, walk past the Hyundai Motorstudio Goyang building and cross the road, and the venue is right ahead. Wide-area bus 9703 links Seoul Station with KINTEX Exhibition Hall 2 every 25 minutes or so from 5:00 AM to 11:00 PM. Bus M7731 runs direct from Hongik University station, and bus 1100 runs from Gwanghwamun.

### Where to stay

Most racers pick one of two bases. **Ilsan, around KINTEX and Lake Park**, puts you within walking distance of the start, and Lafesta and Western Dom have plenty of places to eat. **Around Seoul Station** suits you if you want the city, since GTX-A gets you to the venue in under 20 minutes.

- **Gloucester Hotel KINTEX:** Listed at a few minutes' walk from Exhibition Halls 1 and 2. It has a gym and a breakfast restaurant, so it's the easiest pick for an early wave.
- **Sono Calm Goyang:** Formerly The MVL Goyang, it's a big four-star hotel in Janghang-dong, about an 8-minute walk from the halls and Ilsan Lake Park. It has a sauna, a fitness center and a seasonal outdoor pool.
- **Hotel Millennium:** It's in Daehwa-dong, listed at about a 7-minute walk (0.6 km) from Exhibition Hall 1, and it has an on-site restaurant.
- **KINSTAY Hotel:** It's a budget two-star option listed at about 0.3 km from Exhibition Hall 1, with restaurants and convenience stores nearby.

### Gyms for pre-race training

- **CrossFit KG Tribe (Deogyang-gu):** It's a warehouse-style CrossFit box in Goyang, a short walk from Samsong station on Line 3, with sports-science-qualified coaches. Its CrossFit.com page welcomes drop-ins, but no price is listed, so email before you go.
- **REVL Training Gangnam (Gangnam):** Creatrip describes it as an official HYROX Training Center. It runs 80-minute HYROX classes with English coaching, and visitors can buy one-, three- or five-class passes.
- **Sono Calm Goyang fitness center (Janghang-dong):** It's a hotel gym for guests, fine for a light spin and mobility session the day before.
- **Gloucester Hotel KINTEX gym (Daehwa-dong):** It's a guest gym next to the venue. It won't have HYROX kit, but it works for a short activation session.

### Where locals run

- **Ilsan Lake Park (Janghang-dong):** It's about 570 m from KINTEX, a large artificial lake with running tracks and a 4.7 km path around it. The loop is flat and paved, and it's the obvious shakeout from any Ilsan hotel.
- **Yeouido Hangang Park (Yeouido):** It runs 8.4 km along the south bank of the Han River on flat riverside paths shared with cyclists. Reach it from Yeouinaru station on Line 5. It's the best easy run if you're based in central Seoul.

### Where to eat and fuel up

- **Ilsan Kalguksu (Ilsandong-gu):** This main branch has served only chicken kalguksu for more than 40 years. It's a big bowl of chewy hand-cut noodles in chicken broth with clams. Expect floor seating and weekend queues.
- **Myeongdong Kyoja (Myeongdong):** This Seoul institution dates to the 1960s and serves knife-cut kalguksu and mandu dumplings from a short menu. It's the classic carb-load if you're staying in the city.
- **Tosokchon Samgyetang (Jongno):** Near Gyeongbokgung station, it's famous for ginseng chicken soup stuffed with glutinous rice, jujubes and chestnuts. It's an easy-to-digest post-race meal.
- **Gwangjang Market (Jongno):** This market has been running since 1905. Its food stalls are known for bindaetteok, a crisp mung bean pancake, and bite-size mayak gimbap. Get there from Jongno 5-ga station.

### Race weekend events and parties

As of 15 October 2026, no official after-party, community run or fan zone had been announced for AirAsia HYROX Seoul 2026. Follow HYROX Korea's official channels and https://hyrox.com/ in the weeks before the race for any news.

### After the race

**Recovery:**

- **Aquafield Goyang:** It's a jjimjilbang and water park inside Starfield Goyang in Deogyang-gu, with a rooftop pool looking out at Bukhansan. Buy a pass on Naver in advance.
- **Sono Calm Goyang sauna:** If you're staying there, the hotel sauna is a short walk from the finish.

**Things to do:**

- Visit **Haengjusanseong Fortress**, the site of the 1593 Battle of Haengju.
- Eat your way through **Gwangjang Market**, one of Seoul's oldest and largest traditional markets.
- Stroll the shops, cafes and bars of **Lafesta**, the open-air street mall near Ilsan Lake Park.

### Local insights

- **Go to KINTEX, not COEX:** The 2025 Seoul race was at COEX in Gangnam. This year it is at KINTEX in Goyang, on the other side of the city, so double-check your map pin before you leave.
- **Get a T-money card and carry won to top it up:** Buy one at a GS25, CU, 7-Eleven or subway ticket machine. Top-ups are in ₩1,000 units, and station machines and convenience stores mostly want cash for them. You can't tap a foreign bank card at the gates yet. Seoul plans to start that in 2027. Since March 2026, foreign Visa and Mastercard cards can buy short-term Climate Card passes at subway machines, but those passes don't cover GTX-A or airport buses.
- **Use Naver Map or KakaoMap, not Google Maps:** Google Maps in Korea gives transit routes but not proper walking directions. Install Naver Map for transit and walking and KakaoMap as a backup. Kakao T is the go-to taxi app: you set your destination in the app and pay by card, so you don't have to explain where you're going. Setting it up with a foreign card can be fiddly, so keep some cash too.
- **Book your ride home:** Taxis are hard to find at KINTEX after big events. If you're leaving late, plan for GTX-A or the 9703 bus, or prebook a taxi.
- **Convenience stores are your fuel station:** Every GS25 and CU sells samgak gimbap, a triangle rice ball with a one-day shelf life and about 140 to 200 kcal. They also stock sports drinks and bottled water. Pack your own gels, since you won't find them on most shelves.
- **Jjimjilbang etiquette:** Bathing areas are separated by gender. Shower before you get in the tubs, and wear the T-shirt and shorts they give you in the shared areas. You store your shoes in one locker and swap that key for a clothes locker.
- **Don't tip:** Tipping isn't customary in Korea, and restaurants aren't allowed to add a service charge on top of the menu prices.
- **Tap water is fine, but locals drink bottled:** Seoul tests its Arisu tap water against 350 criteria, but many residents still drink bottled or filtered water because of old building pipes.

### Race-day tips for this venue

- **Dress for cold mornings.** Seoul's November averages are a high of about 12°C (54°F) and a low of about 3.5°C (38°F). Bring a warm layer for the walk from the station and the wait before your wave.
- **Bring photo ID.** You'll need it at check-in, and athletes get wristband entry to the hall only on their own race day. On any other day you'll need a spectator ticket.
- **Check your hall before you pick a bus.** KINTEX is huge. Bus 3030 stops at Hall 1 and bus 9703 at Hall 2, so confirm your hall in the athlete information to avoid a long walk.
- **Watch for your start time.** HYROX publishes wave times about three days out. Late waves run to about 8:00 PM, after the last 5600 bus to Incheon Airport has left.
