## Race weekend guide (checked 2026-10-15)

HYROX Buenos Aires is the city's first HYROX race, held at La Rural, the big exhibition ground in Palermo, steps from Plaza Italia Subte station. Palermo gives you leafy streets, a huge park for shakeout runs and some of the best steak in Latin America. Late March is early autumn, and porteños eat dinner late, so book your pre-race meal early.

### Race weekend at a glance

- **Dates:** Saturday 20 to Sunday 21 March 2027
- **Venue:** La Rural (La Rural Predio Ferial de Buenos Aires)
- **Address:** Av. Sarmiento 2704, C1425 Cdad. Autónoma de Buenos Aires
- **Nearest public transport:** Plaza Italia station on Subte Line D, at Av. Santa Fe and Thames, a few meters from the grounds
- **Divisions:** Not yet published as of 15 October 2026; ticket sales hadn't opened

### Getting to the venue

**From Ezeiza (EZE):** It's about 32 km out, and RoxRadar puts a taxi or Uber at 45 to 60 minutes. Tienda León buses run to its downtown Terminal Pellegrini (Pellegrini 971) in about an hour for ARS 16,500; take a taxi or the Subte on from there.

**From Aeroparque (AEP):** The domestic and regional airport sits on the river by Palermo, and the Palo Santo hotel puts a taxi at 15 to 20 minutes. City bus line 33 stops near the main gate.

**From downtown:** Take Subte Line D toward Congreso de Tucumán and get off at Plaza Italia. Many colectivo (bus) lines, including the 10, 12, 29, 39 and 60, serve the area.

### Where to stay

Stay in Palermo. **Palermo Soho** (Palermo Viejo) has the best restaurants and is walkable to the venue. **Palermo Hollywood** is a little quieter, with good boutique hotels. **Recoleta** is classic, central and one Subte line away.

- **Palo Santo Hotel:** On Bonpland in Palermo Hollywood, about five blocks from Plaza Italia station. It has a seventh-floor gym and a rooftop hot tub that usually runs December to March.
- **Fierro Hotel:** A boutique hotel on Soler in Palermo Hollywood, with a garden, a rooftop hydro-jet area and in-house massage for post-race legs.
- **Nuss Hotel Buenos Aires Soho:** It's at El Salvador and Borges near Plaza Serrano. It has a rooftop splash pool, a small equipment room and a sauna.
- **Duque Hotel Boutique & Spa:** On Guatemala in Palermo Soho, with a small spa that guests can use for free.
- **Magnolia Hotel Boutique:** A restored old house on Julián Álvarez in Palermo Soho, with à la carte breakfast and a rooftop terrace.

### Gyms for pre-race training

- **Megatlon Alcorta (Palermo):** At J. Salguero 3172, open daily, including Sundays 10:00 to 20:00. It has weights, cardio and functional areas, and Megatlon offers a free one-day trial pass. Sleds aren't listed.
- **Megatlon Recoleta (Recoleta):** At Arenales 1930, open weekdays from 6:30 and Saturdays 9:00 to 20:00. You can request the same free trial day.
- **Postas aeróbicas in Bosques de Palermo (Palermo):** The park has free outdoor fitness stations along its paths. They're good for mobility and bodyweight priming the day before.

We couldn't confirm an official HYROX Training Club in Buenos Aires that sells visitor day passes.

### Where locals run

- **Rosedal circuit (Palermo):** A flat, quiet loop of about 2 km on asphalt around the lake and rose garden in Parque Tres de Febrero. Walk up Av. Sarmiento from the venue toward the park to reach it.
- **Palermo lakes circuit (Palermo):** The most popular loop, about 3.5 km, mostly on asphalt with some cobblestones. Link it with the Rosedal for roughly 8 km. The park's inner roads close to traffic on weekends and fill with runners.
- **Reserva Ecológica Costanera Sur (Costanera Sur):** The city's biggest green space, with riverside trails, next to Puerto Madero. It's closed on Mondays. Its city listing gives summer hours (November to March) of 8:00 to 19:00, Tuesday to Sunday.

### Where to eat and fuel up

- **Don Julio (Palermo Soho):** The famous parrilla at Guatemala and Gurruchaga, ranked No. 3 on Latin America's 50 Best Restaurants. Save the rib-eye for your post-race celebration and book well ahead.
- **El Preferido de Palermo (Palermo Soho):** A bodegón at Borges 2108 that also makes the 50 Best list. Its beef milanesa, breaded and fried, is the local comfort carb-and-protein meal.
- **Pizzería Güerrín (San Nicolás):** Open since 1932 at Av. Corrientes 1368, and known for thick, wood-fired porteño pizza and fainá. Take Line D downtown to carb-load like a local.
- **La Biela (Recoleta):** A historic café at Av. Quintana 600, open from 8:00. Go for the standard porteño breakfast of coffee and medialunas, the sweet local croissants.

### Race weekend events and parties

As of 15 October 2026, no official after-party, fan zone or community run for HYROX Buenos Aires had been announced, and the race schedule, check-in and ceremony times were still listed as TBA. Watch HYROX's official channels and the event's ticketing page as race week approaches.

### After the race

**Recovery:**

- **Duque Hotel Boutique & Spa (Palermo Soho):** Its spa lists a Spa Day package and massages. Contact the hotel to confirm whether non-guests can book.
- **Fierro Hotel (Palermo Hollywood):** Book a massage in the hotel's indoor treatment room, then use its rooftop hydro-jets.

**Things to do:**

- Walk off your legs in the **Rosedal**, the free rose garden in Bosques de Palermo with more than 12,000 rose bushes.
- Visit **Recoleta Cemetery**, open daily 9:00 to 17:00, where Eva Perón's tomb draws the biggest crowds.
- Take a slow riverside stroll through the **Reserva Ecológica Costanera Sur** on a non-Monday.

### Local insights

- **Tap to ride, or get a SUBE:** The Subte accepts contactless credit and debit cards, NFC phones and wallet QR codes, but only at gates with the matching reader. Some gates are SUBE-only. Tourist centers sell SUBE cards if you show your passport.
- **Cards work again:** Most currency controls were lifted in April 2025. The gap between the official and "blue" dollar rates has since narrowed to a few percent. Pay by card in pesos and keep a little cash.
- **Tip about 10%, in cash:** A 10% propina is the norm and isn't included in the bill. The per-person "cubierto" charge isn't a tip, and tips usually go in cash.
- **Dinner starts late:** Locals rarely sit down before 21:00, later on weekends. Racing early Saturday? Book a 19:00 or 20:00 table on Friday.
- **Carb up local style:** Pasta is eaten about as often as beef here, thanks to Italian immigrants. Milanesas and medialunas are everyday fuel.
- **Tap water is fine:** Buenos Aires tap water is generally safe to drink, unlike in much of Latin America.
- **Uber, Cabify and DiDi all run here:** The city formally regulated them in September 2026. Don't call one from a taxi rank, where tension with cabbies runs high.
- **Know the holiday week:** 24 March, the Wednesday after the race, is Día de la Memoria, a fixed national holiday. Good Friday follows on 26 March, and race weekend itself is not a holiday. For gels, electrolytes or blister care, Farmacity is the city's big pharmacy chain.

### Race-day tips for this venue

- **Use Plaza Italia station.** Line D drops you a few meters from La Rural, and it avoids the traffic around Av. Santa Fe and Av. Sarmiento.
- **Pack for changeable weather.** Normal March highs are 27.0°C (80.6°F), lows are 17.7°C (63.9°F), and the month brings about 120 mm of rain over eight days. Bring a light rain shell.
- **Bring ID and your ticket.** Supporters who want to enter early go through the Spectators Desk with ticket and ID, per HYROX's event information.
- **Watch for start times.** Individual start times come out about three days before, and changes aren't permitted.
- **Mind your phone.** Pickpocketing and bag snatching are the most common crimes in the city, so keep valuables zipped away in crowds.
