## Race weekend guide (checked 2026-10-15)

COMMANDO HYROX Mexico City runs for four days at the Hipódromo de las Américas, on the west side of the city next to Polanco, and HYROX calls it the largest HYROX event in Latin America. You'll be racing at about 2,240 m (7,350 ft), so plan to run more conservatively than at home. The race also lands on Día de Muertos weekend and the same weekend as the Formula 1 Mexico City Grand Prix, so book your hotel early and leave extra time to get around.

### Race weekend at a glance

- **Dates:** Thursday 29 October to Sunday 1 November 2026
- **Venue:** Hipódromo de las Américas (the race is held at the Centro Citibanamex convention center inside the racetrack complex)
- **Address:** Av. del Conscripto 311, Lomas de Sotelo, Hipódromo de las Américas, Miguel Hidalgo, 11610 Ciudad de México, CDMX
- **Nearest public transport:** Toreo/Cuatro Caminos on Metro Line 2. From the station, you'll need a taxi, a ride-hail car or a microbus to reach the venue.
- **Divisions:** Open and Pro singles; Doubles (Men, Women and Mixed); Pro Doubles; Men's, Women's and Mixed Relay; and Adaptive (Men and Women)
- **Also on site:** The Thunderdome spectator area and the HYROX Entertainment Zone with event partners

### Getting to the venue

**From Mexico City International Airport (AICM):** At Terminals 1 and 2, buy an official taxi ticket at one of the authorized booths inside the terminal before you walk out. Uber and DiDi aren't authorized to pick up inside the airport zone, so app pickups happen at points outside it. At Terminal 1, that's on the Circuito Interior near Terminal Aérea Metro station. Allow about 25 to 40 minutes to the venue, depending on traffic.

**By Metro:** Take Line 2 to its terminus, Toreo/Cuatro Caminos. Then take a taxi, ride-hail car or microbus.

**From Polanco:** An Uber or DiDi is the easy option. It's a short drive, but leave a traffic buffer.

### Where to stay

**Toreo**, just north of the venue, has business hotels a few minutes' drive from the start. **Polanco** is a short drive away and has far more restaurants, plus Chapultepec Park for shakeout runs. Book early, because Formula 1 weekend pushes up hotel demand.

- **Courtyard Mexico City Toreo:** Marriott says it's about 1 km from Centro Citibanamex and next to the Toreo Parque Central mall.
- **Fiesta Americana México Toreo:** It's part of the Toreo Parque Central complex and describes itself as very close to Centro Citibanamex. There's a top-floor gym with treadmills.
- **Novotel Mexico City Toreo:** It lists Centro Citibanamex and the Hipódromo among its nearby landmarks.
- **Presidente InterContinental Mexico City (Polanco):** It's a big Polanco hotel next to Chapultepec Park, with easy access to the running loops.

### Gyms for pre-race training

- **HYROX Performance Center Polanco (Polanco):** It bills itself as Mexico's first and only HYROX Performance Center and is open daily from 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Access is listed through Wellhub's Diamond plan. A day pass isn't confirmed, so contact the gym before you go.
- **Nómadas HYROX Training Club (Benito Juárez):** It's a HYROX Training Club south of the center. Its Wellhub listing shows weekday hours only.
- **Eight HYROX Training Club (Cuajimalpa):** It's a HYROX Training Club in the west of the city, open weekdays from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. and closed weekends. Day-pass availability isn't confirmed.

### Where locals run

- **Circuito Gandhi (Chapultepec):** This 2.5 km clay loop sits beside the Museo Nacional de Antropología, in the first section of Bosque de Chapultepec. It's lit and open 24 hours.
- **Circuito Correr es Salud (Chapultepec):** This 3.5 km circuit on Avenida de los Compositores in the park's quieter second section is open around the clock.
- **Parque Bicentenario (Miguel Hidalgo):** This former refinery site, close to the venue, has an 800 m clay track. It's open Tuesday to Sunday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

### Where to eat and fuel up

- **Taquería El Turix (Polanco):** It's a tiny Yucatecan stand on Emilio Castelar that has served cochinita pibil tacos, panuchos and tortas since the 1980s. It's cash only and standing room only.
- **Bandido (Polanco):** It's a café a few doors from El Turix, open from 8 a.m. The Infatuation rates it best for breakfast and lunch.
- **Los Queridos (Polanco):** It's a casual taquería on Homero known for tacos al carbón and al pastor.
- **La Bonvi (Polanco):** It's a lively taco spot on Anatole France. Order the cachetada de picaña, a thin-sliced beef taco with melted cheese.

### Race weekend events and parties

As of 15 October 2026, no official after-party or community run had been announced. The confirmed extras are the on-site Thunderdome and the HYROX Entertainment Zone. Check HYROX Mexico's official channels and local HYROX clubs as race week gets closer. The city will be busy anyway: the Día de Muertos parade runs on Saturday 31 October at 14:00 along Reforma, and the F1 Grand Prix runs all weekend at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez.

### After the race

**Recovery:**

- **Bosque de Chapultepec (Chapultepec):** An easy walk on the flat paths around the first section is the simplest way to loosen up your legs the day after.

**Things to do:**

- See the marigold displays at the **Festival Flores de Cempasúchil**, which runs on Paseo de la Reforma until 1 November.
- Visit the **Ofrenda Monumental** in the Zócalo, which is set up from 29 October to 2 November.
- Catch the **Día de Muertos festival in Bosque de Chapultepec**, which runs from 29 October to 4 November.

### Local insights

- **Respect the altitude:** At about 2,240 m, Mexico City is one of the world's highest capitals. Endurance efforts feel harder, and full acclimatization takes days to weeks. Start easier than usual and drink more.
- **Two mega-events, one weekend:** The F1 Grand Prix runs from 30 October to 1 November in the east of the city, and the Día de Muertos parade closes Reforma on Saturday afternoon. Book early and add a buffer to every ride.
- **Tap your card on the Metro:** A Metro ride costs 5 pesos. You can tap a contactless Visa, Mastercard or Amex, or a phone wallet, at the turnstile, and Metrobús accepts contactless too. Microbuses, including those from Cuatro Caminos, usually only take cash.
- **Airport taxis vs apps:** Authorized airport taxis are paid at booths inside the terminal and can cost more than double an Uber or DiDi fare. Apps can't pick you up inside the airport zone, so follow the signs to the outside pickup points.
- **Drink purified water:** Locals drink bottled or garrafón (20-liter jug) water rather than tap water, and most hotels supply it.
- **Tipping (propina):** In restaurants, people usually tip 10 to 15%. It's voluntary by law, and a restaurant can't add it to your bill without your consent.
- **Carry some cash:** Many classic taco stands, such as El Turix, are cash only.
- **Pan de muerto season:** Bakeries and supermarkets sell pan de muerto, a soft, sugar-topped sweet bread, from late summer through early November. A piece with coffee is a very local pre-race carb top-up.

### Race-day tips for this venue

- **Book your ride early.** The Metro only gets you as far as Cuatro Caminos, so pre-book a taxi or Uber and leave extra time, especially on Saturday and Sunday.
- **Bring ID and come early.** On-site registration opens 90 minutes before your division's first wave. You can only check in on your race day, and nobody can check in for you.
- **Dress in layers.** Early November in the city is dry, with highs around 22°C (72°F) and lows around 10°C (50°F).
- **Pace for the altitude.** Run your first 1 km slower than your sea-level target.
- **Get spectator tickets.** Athlete tickets only cover your own race day. Friends watching on other days need a spectator ticket, and early entry goes through the Spectators Desk with a ticket and ID.

### FAQ

### How do I get to the Hipódromo de las Américas from the airport?

Buy an authorized taxi ticket at a booth inside AICM, or walk to the outside app pickup point for Uber or DiDi. Allow 25 to 40 minutes, depending on traffic.

### Is there a Metro station near HYROX Mexico City?

The closest hub is Toreo/Cuatro Caminos on Line 2. From there, take a taxi, ride-hail car or microbus to the venue.

### Will the altitude affect my HYROX time?

Most likely. At about 2,240 m, aerobic efforts feel harder, so arrive a few days early if you can and pace your first runs conservatively.
