MCK stands right beside the saucer-shaped Spodek arena, close to the Silesian Museum, which was built on an old coal mine. MCK suggests getting off at Katowice Sokolska (about 1 km from the venue) or Katowice Hotel Novotel (about 850 m). MCK puts the bus at about PLN 30 and a 30-minute taxi at about PLN 100. Pyrzowice Lotnisko station, about 500 m from the terminals, also has a few direct IC trains to Katowice. **From Katowice main station:** Take tram T2, T11, T13, T23 or T43 from the Katowice Dworzec PKP stop to Katowice Rondo, about 8 minutes, or walk for about 15 minutes. **From Kraków Airport:** Balice is about 70 km away, roughly 50 minutes by car, according to MCK. ### Where to stay Base yourself in Śródmieście, the city center: by the Spodek for the shortest walk, on Roździeńskiego for value, or near the station for restaurants. - **Hotel Diament Spodek (Śródmieście):** At al. It's open 24/7 and has a dedicated HYROX zone, and CityFit's own site says its HYROX-zone clubs are certified HYROX Training Clubs. Passes start at 39.95 zł for 24 hours, bought online and used via the CityFit app. - **CityFit Katowice Rynek (Śródmieście):** At Rynek 12 on the main square. It's open 24/7, with a functional training zone and free weights, and 24-hour access costs 49.95 zł. This club isn't on CityFit's HYROX-zone list, so don't count on sleds. ### Where locals run - **Dolina Trzech Stawów (Muchowiec):** The Valley of Three Ponds is a 65.5-hectare green belt south and east of the center with 11 ponds. A roughly 4 km skating path runs the length of the valley along the water. - **Park Śląski (Chorzów):** The Silesian Park, northwest of the venue, covers 620 hectares, twice the size of New York's Central Park. Its wooded center is crossed by roads and alleys. ### Where to eat and fuel up - **Tatiana (Śródmieście):** At Staromiejska 5. Order the rolada śląska with Silesian dumplings and red cabbage (72 zł), or the Silesian żur, a sour rye soup with potato puree and white sausage. The kitchen opens at 13:00 and closes at 22:00, or 21:00 on Sunday. - **Chata z Zalipia (Śródmieście):** An award-winning folk-style restaurant at Wojewódzka 15, known for rolada and pierogi. It's open daily from 06:00 to 22:00, with last exit at 21:30. - **Novotel Katowice Centrum (Śródmieście):** Pool, sauna and Jacuzzi a short walk from the finish, if you stay there. **Things to do:** - Walk around the **Spodek**, the 1971 "saucer" arena known for concerts and esports. - Go underground at the **Silesian Museum**, opened in 2015 on the site of the former Katowice coal mine, where the main exhibition space is below ground. - Head out to **Nikiszowiec**, a brick miners' estate built between 1908 and 1918 and now a Historic Monument of Poland. ### Local insights - **Race Sunday is a non-trading Sunday:** 21 February 2027 isn't on Poland's list of trading Sundays, so supermarkets and malls will be shut. Petrol stations, pharmacies, station and airport shops, and some franchise convenience stores can open.
