## Race weekend guide (checked 2026-10-15)

HYROX Dubai runs over two days at the Dubai Exhibition Centre (DEC) in Expo City Dubai, on the city's southern edge near Al Maktoum International Airport. Late November is one of the best times of year to race in the UAE, with warm days and cooler evenings. Because Expo City is a long way from the beach and downtown, decide early whether you'd rather stay near the start or commute in by Metro.

### Race weekend at a glance

- **Dates:** Friday 27 to Saturday 28 November 2026
- **Venue:** Dubai Exhibition Centre (DEC), Expo City Dubai
- **Address:** Boulevard 2020, Madinat Al Mataar, Dubai, United Arab Emirates
- **Nearest public transport:** Expo City Dubai Metro station (formerly Expo 2020, R76), at the end of the Red Line's Expo branch, a few minutes' walk from the venue
- **Divisions:** On Friday, Men's Open, Men's Adaptive, Men's and Women's Pro, and Mixed Doubles. On Saturday, Women's Open, Women's Adaptive, Men's and Women's Doubles, Men's and Women's Pro Doubles, and Men's, Women's and Mixed Relay. HYROX says the schedule is provisional.

### Getting to the venue

**From the airport:** Dubai International (DXB) is on the Dubai Metro Red Line. Since 2024 the Red Line has run alternating direct trains, so you can ride from the airport to Expo City Dubai without changing at the old Jebel Ali interchange, which has since been renamed National Paints. Check the destination on the platform screens before boarding, because trains on the other branch end at Life Pharmacy (formerly UAE Exchange). Taxis are also available, and the venue has parking off Expo Road (E77) and Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road (E311).

**From the city center:** Take the Red Line from Downtown, Business Bay or Dubai Marina toward Expo City Dubai, and make sure you board an Expo-bound train. Taxis and ride-hailing work well too, especially for early starts.

### Where to stay

Most athletes choose between two kinds of base. **Expo City Dubai** lets you walk to the start. Any area along the **Red Line** works too, such as Ibn Battuta, Dubai Marina or Downtown, and gives you more to do in the evenings. Downtown and Deira are a long ride from the venue, so allow plenty of time on race morning.

- **Rove Expo City:** It's on Al Wasl Plaza inside Expo City, steps from the DEC, and has a 24-hour gym and pool.
- **Expo Village Serviced Apartments:** These are apartments in Expo Village with direct access to Expo City. They're useful if you want a kitchen for race-week meals.
- **Premier Inn Dubai Ibn Battuta Mall:** It's linked by footbridge to Ibn Battuta Mall and its Red Line station, a short ride from Expo City.

### Gyms for pre-race training

- **GymNation Al Quoz:** It's home to GymNation's HYROX Performance Centre, which the chain calls the first in the Middle East.
- **Viya Fit Mina Seyahi (Dubai Marina):** It runs 60-minute HYROX classes that mirror the race, using a SkiErg, sleds, rowers, sandbags and wall balls.
- **The Project DXB (Al Quoz):** It's a functional fitness studio with HYROX-focused classes led by a certified HYROX coach, plus sleds and rowers.
- **LAB Studios (Downtown and Studio City):** It runs HYROX classes through the week, including race-day simulations.

None of these gyms advertise day passes, so contact them about class access for visitors. Privilee members can book some of these classes through the app.

### Where locals run

There's no well-known running loop at Expo City, so most visitors head into town on the Red Line for a shakeout.

- **Dubai Marina (Dubai Marina):** The waterfront route around the marina runs about 8 km. It's busy, with beach access along the way, and the Red Line stops at the marina.
- **Burj Park (Downtown Dubai):** A 5 km route circles the Burj Khalifa and the Dubai Fountain, with skyline views the whole way. Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall station is on the Red Line.

### Where to eat and fuel up

- **The Daily (Rove Expo City):** It's the hotel's restaurant, serving a breakfast buffet a short walk from the DEC.
- **Tom&Serg (Al Quoz):** It's a Melbourne-style all-day breakfast cafe known for its specialty coffee, close to the Al Quoz gyms.
- **Arabian Tea House (Al Fahidi):** It's a cafe that has been open since 1997 in the historic district, known for its Emirati breakfast tray.

### Race weekend events and parties

As of 15 October 2026, no official after-party, community run or expo had been announced for HYROX Dubai. The event page mentions a HYROX Entertainment Zone with partners and a viewing area at the Thunderdome on site, and HYROX says more athlete information will be added closer to race day. Check HYROX's official channels and local run clubs nearer the date for community runs or brand events.

### After the race

**Recovery:**
- **°CRYO (Jumeirah Emirates Towers and Umm Suqeim Street):** It offers whole-body cryotherapy.
- **Viya Fit Mina Seyahi:** The gym also has a sauna and steam room. Ask about access if you're not a member.
- **Rove Expo City's outdoor pool:** It's a good spot for an easy post-race float if you're staying on site.

**Things to do:**
- Wander **Al Wasl Plaza** at Expo City, which is free to visit, and ride the **Garden in the Sky** observation tower.
- Visit the **Terra** sustainability pavilion at Expo City.
- Explore the **Al Fahidi Historical District** and its old Dubai lanes.
- Head to **JBR Beach** or **The Dubai Mall** on the Metro.

### Local insights

- **Nothing to eat or drink on the Metro:** Eating or drinking in a Metro cabin carries an AED 100 fine, so finish your water on the platform. Carrying alcohol on the Metro or in a station costs AED 500.
- **Mind the special cabins:** Each train has a Gold Class cabin and a cabin for women and children. Men shouldn't enter or walk through the women's cabin, and standing in either without qualifying costs AED 100.
- **Tipping is welcome, not required:** Many bills include a service charge, but it usually goes to the business rather than the staff. A 10–15% tip in restaurants is appreciated, and a few dirhams is plenty for a taxi.
- **Check before you drink the tap water:** DEWA says its water meets WHO standards up to the meter, but each building's tanks and pipes are the owner's responsibility. Ask your hotel, or stick to bottled water.
- **Ride-hailing works well:** Careem is Dubai-based and its ride business is owned by Uber, so both apps work for trips to Expo City.
- **Check your medication:** Codeine is a controlled drug in the UAE, so you need permission to bring anything that contains it. Carry a prescription issued within three months and a medical report, and declare them on arrival or apply for MOHAP's free permit. Paracetamol and ibuprofen are fine.

### Race-day tips for this venue

- **Arrive early.** Spectator registration opens 90 minutes before each division's first wave, and spectators can enter early through the Spectators Desk with a ticket and ID.
- **Spectators need their own tickets,** sold separately. Extra guests at age-group ceremonies also need a spectator ticket.
- **Your start time is fixed.** HYROX links provisional start times about three days before the event and doesn't allow changes.
- **The venue is fully wheelchair accessible.**
- **Plan for the weather.** The UAE's National Center of Meteorology gives November average highs of about 29 to 31°C (84 to 88°F) and lows of about 19 to 21°C (66 to 70°F), with occasional morning fog. Bring water for the journey, and a light layer for after you finish.
- **Check bag drop details.** The event page doesn't cover bag drop yet, so read the athlete information HYROX publishes before race week.
