## Race weekend guide (checked 2026-10-15)

Factor_ HYROX Atlanta runs over three days at the Georgia World Congress Center, right beside Centennial Olympic Park downtown. Late April is mild, green and usually dry enough for a shakeout on the BeltLine. The one thing to know is that MARTA renamed the venue's station in December 2025, so look for "SEC District," not "GWCC/CNN Center."

### Race weekend at a glance

- **Dates:** Friday 23 April to Sunday 25 April 2027
- **Venue:** Georgia World Congress Center
- **Address:** 285 Andrew Young International Blvd NW, Atlanta, GA 30313
- **Nearest public transport:** SEC District station (Sports, Entertainment and Convention District) on MARTA's Blue and Green Lines, which serves the convention center directly
- **Divisions:** The race schedule hadn't been published as of 15 October 2026. The event page confirms age-group divisions with ceremonies after each one.
- **Also on site:** HYROX Youngstars for ages 8 to 15, the HYROX Entertainment Zone with partners, and the Thunderdome viewing area

### Getting to the venue

**From Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL):** MARTA's Airport station is inside the Domestic Terminal, between the North and South baggage claims. Take a Red or Gold Line train north to Five Points, then change to a westbound Blue or Green Line train for one stop to SEC District. Tap a contactless card or phone at the gates.

**From Midtown:** Take the Red or Gold Line south to Five Points and change to the Blue or Green Line for one stop. The Atlanta Streetcar also runs along the east side of Centennial Olympic Park.

**From the BeltLine and Poncey-Highland:** Take MARTA bus 2 along Ponce de Leon Avenue to North Avenue station, then the train south.

### Where to stay

Downtown around Centennial Olympic Park is walkable to the venue. Midtown is a few MARTA stops north, with more restaurants and Piedmont Park. Poncey-Highland and the Old Fourth Ward put you on the BeltLine but need a ride to the venue.

- **Omni Atlanta Hotel at Centennial Park:** Right next to the venue, with direct access from SEC District station.
- **Glenn Hotel:** A boutique hotel with a rooftop lounge at 110 Marietta Street, a short walk from the convention center.
- **The Georgian Terrace:** A historic Midtown hotel at 659 Peachtree Street, opposite the Fox Theatre. Some rooms have full kitchens, which helps if you want to cook your own pre-race meal.
- **Hotel Clermont:** A characterful hotel at 789 Ponce de Leon Avenue, close to the BeltLine Eastside Trail for morning runs.

### Gyms for pre-race training

- **Union Performance Academy (Poncey-Highland):** On Ponce de Leon Place, inside The Training Room. It displays the HYROX Training Club mark, calls itself Atlanta's HYROX-only studio, and offers a free first class.
- **The Refinery (Westside):** On Marietta Boulevard near Underwood Hills. It describes itself as an official HYROX training gym and runs Sunday HYROX classes for $20 for non-members.
- **Carbon Performance Atlanta (West Midtown):** On West Marietta Street. It runs HYROX-focused classes, but they're part of a membership and no drop-in price is listed.
- **Elite Edge Fitness (Chamblee):** On Broad Street. It says it's an official HYROX Training Club and offers a free trial. Day-pass availability isn't confirmed.

### Where locals run

- **Atlanta BeltLine Eastside Trail (Old Fourth Ward):** Atlanta's favorite paved rail-trail, running from Piedmont Park south past Ponce City Market and Krog Street Market to Inman Park. It's mostly flat and busy on weekends, so go early.
- **Piedmont Park (Midtown):** About 1.6 km northeast of downtown, this 189-acre park has several miles of paved paths for an easy loop. It connects to the north end of the Eastside Trail.
- **Centennial Olympic Park (Downtown):** A 22-acre park on the venue's doorstep. Its paths are too short for a long run but fine for strides and a pre-race warm-up walk.

### Where to eat and fuel up

- **Mary Mac's Tea Room (Midtown):** At 224 Ponce de Leon Avenue, serving Southern food since 1945. Order fried chicken, mac and cheese and collard greens after the race.
- **Ponce City Market (Old Fourth Ward):** A converted Sears warehouse with a big food hall, 10 steps from the BeltLine. Easy for a group with mixed tastes.
- **Waffle House:** The chain was founded in 1955 in Avondale Estates, just east of Atlanta, and every location is open 24 hours. Waffles and hash browns are a cheap carb hit after a late heat.
- **Glenn Hotel (Downtown):** The hotel restaurant and bar are a short walk from the venue, handy if you'd rather not travel before an early start.

### Race weekend events and parties

The confirmed extras are HYROX Youngstars, the HYROX Entertainment Zone with partners, the Thunderdome viewing area, and age-group ceremonies after each division. As of 15 October 2026, no official after-party, expo or community run had been announced. Check HYROX's official channels and Atlanta run clubs closer to the date.

### After the race

**Recovery:**

- **Jeju Sauna (Duluth):** A large Korean bathhouse at 3555 Gwinnett Place Drive, open 24/7 with mineral, salt and rock saunas, a bathhouse and pools. It's first come, first served, in the northeast suburbs.

**Things to do:**

- Visit the **Georgia Aquarium**, next to Centennial Olympic Park.
- Visit the **National Center for Civil and Human Rights**, a short walk from the venue.
- Take a tour of the **World of Coca-Cola** at Pemberton Place.
- Walk the **BeltLine Eastside Trail** and stop at **Krog Street Market**.

### Local insights

- **Look for SEC District station:** On 1 December 2025, MARTA renamed GWCC/CNN Center station "Sports, Entertainment and Convention District." Older maps and apps may still use the old name.
- **Tap to ride MARTA:** You can tap a contactless credit or debit card, or Apple, Google or Samsung Wallet, at rail gates and on buses. Use the same card for the whole trip to get free transfers. A physical or virtual Breeze card costs a one-time $2 fee.
- **The train starts in the terminal:** MARTA's Airport station is inside the Domestic Terminal between baggage claims, so you can be on a train minutes after landing.
- **Expect mild days and cool mornings:** Average April highs are about 23°C (74°F), with lows around 11°C (53°F) and roughly 97 mm of rain over the month. Bring a layer for an early heat and a light rain jacket.
- **Ask for pot likker at Mary Mac's:** First-timers can ask for a free cup of pot likker, the broth left from cooking greens, with cornbread.
- **Waffle House never closes:** Every location is open 24 hours, which makes it the reliable late-night refuel after an evening heat.
- **Use the BeltLine entrance at Ponce City Market:** You can walk straight in from the trail on the third floor, then head down to the food hall.

### Race-day tips for this venue

- **Ride MARTA instead of parking.** SEC District station serves the convention center, the stadium and the arena. It saves you hunting for parking downtown.
- **Bring ID to check in.** Nobody can check in for you, and registration opens 90 minutes before your division's first start wave.
- **Check your start time three days out.** Individual start times are linked about three days before the race and can't be changed.
- **Get spectators their tickets.** Spectators need their own tickets, and anyone entering before your check-in window goes through the Spectators Desk with a ticket and ID.
- **Plan for a big building.** The Georgia World Congress Center has three buildings with 12 exhibit halls, so check which hall HYROX is using when the race information is published.
