## Race weekend guide (checked 2026-10-15)

HYROX Glasgow runs over five days in mid-March 2027 at the Scottish Event Campus (SEC), on the Clyde next to the Armadillo and the OVO Hydro. The SEC has its own station, three minutes by train from Glasgow Central, and Finnieston's restaurants and Kelvingrove Park are a short walk away. Expect cool, wet weather, and plan Sunday travel carefully because the Subway runs short hours that day.

### Race weekend at a glance

- **Dates:** Wednesday 10 to Sunday 14 March 2027
- **Venue:** Scottish Event Campus (SEC)
- **Address:** Scottish Event Campus (SEC), Exhibition Way, Glasgow G3 8YW
- **Nearest public transport:** Exhibition Centre station, linked to the campus by a covered walkway. Trains from Glasgow Central run about every 10 minutes.
- **Divisions:** Men, Women, Adaptive Men and Women, Doubles (Men, Women, Mixed), Pro Men and Women, Pro Doubles (Men, Women), and Men's, Women's and Mixed Relays

### Getting to the venue

**From Glasgow Airport:** Airport buses run up to every 10 minutes, 24 hours a day, and take about 25 minutes to the city center. The 747 AirLink goes via Partick, Kelvingrove and Charing Cross, handy for West End hotels. Airport taxis wait right outside the terminal.

**From Glasgow Central:** Take a train from low-level Platform 17 to Exhibition Centre, three minutes away. A lift brings you up to street level, and the covered walkway leads to the campus.

**From Queen Street or Edinburgh:** Edinburgh trains arrive at Queen Street, about five minutes' walk from Central. Walk over for the Exhibition Centre train, or take a 10-minute cab.

**By bus or taxi:** Stagecoach's X19 stops on Finnieston Street, a few minutes' walk away. Glasgow Taxis has a pick-up and drop-off point next to the SEC Armadillo.

### Where to stay

Finnieston and the campus itself put you within walking distance of the start line. For more choice, stay in the city center near Central station, or in the West End around Kelvingrove Park for easy morning runs.

- **Crowne Plaza Glasgow (SEC):** On Congress Road on the campus, a few minutes' walk from the halls and overlooking the Clyde. It has a pool.
- **Radisson RED Glasgow (Finnieston Quay):** Its entrance faces the venue across the road, and it has a 24-hour gym and a rooftop bar.
- **Moxy Glasgow SEC (Finnieston):** On Finnieston Street, about 600 m from the campus. A simpler, good-value base.
- **Hilton Garden Inn Glasgow City Centre (Finnieston Quay):** On the riverside, about an 8- to 10-minute walk east of the SEC.

### Gyms for pre-race training

- **The Gym Group Glasgow West End (Hillhead):** Open 24/7 off Byres Road, with four Concept2 SkiErgs and four dedicated HYROX workouts on its class timetable. Day pass £9.99.
- **The Gym Group Glasgow City (City Centre):** On Argyle Street, entrance on Jamaica Street, near Central station. Open 24/7, with a SkiErg but no sled listed. Day pass £8.99.
- **PureGym Glasgow Charing Cross (Charing Cross):** On St George's Road, open 24/7, with a prowler track and sleds in its functional area. Day passes aren't listed, so ask first.

### Where locals run

- **Kelvingrove Park (West End):** About 34 hectares on a hillside along the River Kelvin, a short walk north of Exhibition Centre station. Expect some climbs.
- **Clyde Walkway (Finnieston):** The riverside path runs past the SEC and through the city center. Head east for a flat out-and-back, or cross Bells Bridge and loop back on the Science Centre side.
- **Glasgow Green (East End):** The city's oldest park, about 55 hectares on the north bank of the Clyde and the finish of the Great Scottish Run. Reach it along the river from the center.
- **Pollok Country Park (Southside):** Glasgow's biggest park, at 146 hectares. Take a train to Pollokshaws West, beside the main entrance.

### Where to eat and fuel up

- **Café Gandolfi (Merchant City):** A family-run institution since 1979, open from 8 a.m. (9 a.m. Sundays). The Full Breakfast comes with Stornoway black pudding, a proper Scottish start before an afternoon wave.
- **Paesano Pizza (Merchant City):** Napoletana pizza on Miller Street, with a West End branch on Great Western Road. Quick carbs the night before.
- **Ox and Finch (Finnieston):** Contemporary sharing plates on Sauchiehall Street. Book ahead for a post-race dinner.
- **Mother India's Cafe (Finnieston):** Indian small plates on Argyle Street, opposite Kelvingrove Art Gallery. Add plenty of rice and bread.

### Race weekend events and parties

HYROX lists a Thunderdome viewing area and an Entertainment Zone at the venue. As of 15 October 2026, no official after-party, expo, community run or early registration details had been announced. Watch HYROX's official channels and local run clubs as March gets closer.

### After the race

**Recovery:**

- **Stretched Glasgow (Woodlands):** A Woodlands Road studio with cold plunge pools and an infrared sauna. Book online; it's open until 5 p.m. on Sundays.

**Things to do:**

- Visit **Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum**, free to enter, for Dalí's *Christ of St John of the Cross* and the daily free organ recital.
- Walk west along the river to the **Riverside Museum**, Glasgow's free transport museum where the Kelvin meets the Clyde.
- Take the train to Pollokshaws West for the **Burrell Collection** in Pollok Country Park.

### Local insights

- **Sunday Subway hours are short:** On Sundays the Subway runs only from 10:00 to about 18:12, with last trains leaving Govan at 17:50. Racing early or late on 14 March? Use the train or a taxi.
- **Tap your card on the Subway:** Since early 2026 you can touch in and out at every Subway station with a contactless card or phone. Locals just call it "the Subway."
- **Buy train tickets before you board:** Exhibition Centre has ticket gates. Don't count on tapping a bank card at ScotRail gates; use a machine or the ScotRail app.
- **March weather:** Highs around 10°C (50°F), lows around 3°C (38°F), and rain on about 14 days of the month. Pack a waterproof.
- **Sunday shopping is normal:** England's Sunday trading limits don't apply in Scotland, so supermarkets keep regular hours on race Sunday.
- **Drink the tap water:** Scottish tap water is regulated by the Drinking Water Quality Regulator for Scotland and safe to drink.
- **Curry for fuel:** Glasgow claims to have invented chicken tikka masala, though the story is disputed. A curry with rice is a local pre-race classic.
- **Tipping:** Check the bill for a service charge. If there isn't one, about 10% is normal for table service.

### Race-day tips for this venue

- **Bring physical ID.** Photos and digital copies aren't accepted, and you can only check in on the day you race.
- **Arrive 90 minutes early.** Registration for each division opens 90 minutes before its first wave. Start times come out about three days before the event.
- **Know your day.** Pro singles and all relays run only on Friday 12 March, with relays from 19:40 to 20:30. Pro Doubles run on Saturday evening.
- **Take the train.** The covered walkway from Exhibition Centre station helps on a wet March morning.
- **Get spectator tickets.** Supporters need their own. To enter early, they go to the Spectators Desk with a ticket and ID.
