## Race weekend guide (checked 2026-10-15)

HYROX Guadalajara returns to Expo Guadalajara for three days in March 2027, a year after its February 2026 edition. March is Guadalajara's driest month, and at about 1,566 m (5,138 ft) the city runs warm by day and cool at dawn, so plan hydration and your warm-up with that in mind.

### Race weekend at a glance

- **Dates:** Friday 19 to Sunday 21 March 2027
- **Venue:** Expo Guadalajara (the official event page gives the Expo's address, and third-party race calendars name the venue)
- **Address:** Av. Mariano Otero 1499, Verde Valle, 44550 Guadalajara, Jal., Mexico
- **Nearest public transport:** Mi Macro Aeropuerto (Line 5), whose Expo Guadalajara route ends on Avenida Mariano Otero
- **Divisions:** Not yet published for 2027. The 2026 race offered singles, doubles and relays, with Open and Pro categories.

### Getting to the venue

**From Guadalajara International Airport (GDL):** The airport is about 18 km south of the city. Mi Macro Aeropuerto (Line 5) opened in June 2026, and one of its three routes runs from the airport to Expo Guadalajara on Avenida Mariano Otero. The fare is 11 pesos, and you can only pay with a Mi Movilidad or Única card. If you don't have one yet, take an official taxi. Buy a fixed-price ticket at the booth inside arrivals, and ignore drivers who approach you at the doors.

**By Uber or DiDi from the airport:** App cars can't pick up at the terminal. Since June 2026 they've used a dedicated zone about 1.5 km away. A free electric shuttle runs to it from international arrivals every five minutes, and The Guadalajara Reporter says the ride takes five to seven minutes.

**From the city center:** Uber, DiDi and Cabify all cover Guadalajara, and an app car from Centro Histórico or Avenida Chapultepec is the easiest way to the Expo.

### Where to stay

Stay near the Expo and you can walk to the start. **Chapalita** has a quiet, leafy, residential feel and is a short drive from the venue. Base yourself around **Minerva and Providencia** for the city's best restaurants and bars, a few minutes further by car.

- **Barceló Guadalajara (Rinconada del Bosque):** The hotel says it's across from Expo Guadalajara, about 300 m away. It has a 24-hour gym and a heated outdoor pool.
- **ibis Guadalajara Expo (Expo):** It's a budget option that Kayak lists about 0.1 mi from the Expo.
- **Hotel Riu Plaza Guadalajara (Chapalita):** This tower on Avenida López Mateos has a gym, a pool and a rooftop bar. Kayak puts it about 0.9 mi from the Expo.
- **Fiesta Americana Guadalajara (Minerva):** It faces the Minerva roundabout, has a gym and suits racers who want the city around them. Kayak lists it about 1.5 mi from the venue.

### Gyms for pre-race training

- **noise. (Providencia):** It's a strength, conditioning and running studio on Valparaíso that calls itself an Official HYROX Training Club. Message the studio to ask about a drop-in.
- **Commando (Providencia):** This studio on Avenida Pablo Neruda lists HYROX classes alongside bootcamp and strength sessions. Day-pass availability isn't confirmed.
- **Smart Fit (Guadalajara):** The chain was the title partner of the 2026 race, and race-guide sites describe it as a HYROX gym. Day-pass access and HYROX kit vary by branch, so check before you go.

### Where locals run

- **Bosque Los Colomos (Providencia):** It's a 92-hectare urban forest with about 30,000 trees off El Chaco in Colomos Providencia. Its shaded dirt paths suit an easy shakeout, and it's a short ride from Minerva and Providencia hotels.
- **Parque Metropolitano (Zapopan):** This free park on Avenida Beethoven has a 5 km dirt jogging trail and a 3.7 km pedestrian track. It's officially open 6:00 to 19:00, and you'll need an app car from the Expo.

### Where to eat and fuel up

- **Karne Garibaldi (Plaza del Sol):** It has served carne en su jugo, beef simmered in its own broth with beans, since 1970. The Mariano Otero branch is close to the Expo, and it's a solid protein-and-carb meal after the race.
- **Tortas Toño (Chapalita):** It's a local torta ahogada chain with a branch on Avenida Tepeyac. Order it "media ahogada" if you're racing soon. The website lists daytime hours and a Tuesday closure, so check before you go.
- **Birriería Las Nueve Esquinas (Centro):** It's known for birria in the Nueve Esquinas area, a few blocks south of Templo San Francisco. Save it for after the race.
- **Plaza del Sol (Ciudad del Sol):** This big mall on López Mateos is the closest easy option for a plain pre-race meal and snacks.

### Race weekend events and parties

As of 15 October 2026, no official after-party, fan village or community run had been announced for HYROX Guadalajara 2027. Ticket sales haven't opened yet, and the race schedule is listed as to be confirmed. Watch https://hyrox.com/ and HYROX Mexico's social channels for news before race week.

### After the race

**Recovery:**

- **Barceló Guadalajara pool (Rinconada del Bosque):** If you're staying there, the heated third-floor pool across from the Expo is open 6:00 to 22:00 for a gentle post-race soak.

**Things to do:**

- See José Clemente Orozco's murals, including *The Man of Fire*, at the **Hospicio Cabañas**, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
- Walk around the **Guadalajara Cathedral** in Centro Histórico, built between 1561 and 1618.
- Browse pottery and blown glass in **Tlaquepaque** and listen to mariachi around **El Parián**.
- Celebrate on **Avenida Chapultepec** in Colonia Americana, the city's main bar strip.

### Local insights

- **Get a Mi Movilidad card:** Tren Ligero, Mi Macro and route buses use the Mi Movilidad card, and the airport line won't take cash. Station sales points and machines sell the card, and you can top it up at Oxxo stores.
- **Use apps, not street taxis:** Uber, DiDi and Cabify all work here. Street cabs can cost more at night and when they cross the Periférico ring road.
- **Drink bottled water:** Wikivoyage says tap water in Mexico is technically potable, but it isn't generally recommended for drinking. Buy bottled water for race day, and most hotels leave some in your room.
- **Tip 10 to 15%:** It's the norm at sit-down restaurants. Street stalls often have just a coin jar, and you don't tip taxi drivers.
- **Fuel up like a tapatío:** The city's signature dish is the torta ahogada, crusty birote bread with pork drowned in chile sauce. Birria, goat stewed in a chile adobo with tomato consommé, is the other local favorite. Both are better as post-race rewards than as a pre-race meal.
- **Find a Farmacias Guadalajara:** This homegrown chain is open 24 hours and sells medicine, cold drinks and groceries. It's handy for late-night supplies.
- **Expect dry heat:** March averages run from 13.5°C (56°F) at night to 28.5°C (83°F) by day, with barely one rainy day. Combined with the altitude, that means you'll need to drink more than usual.
- **Know the holiday calendar:** Benito Juárez Day falls on Monday 15 March 2027, before race weekend. Race Sunday is Palm Sunday, since Easter is 28 March, so Holy Week travel begins as you fly home.

### Race-day tips for this venue

- **Check your start time late.** The official page says individual start times go up about three days before the event and can't be changed.
- **Arrive at least 90 minutes before your wave.** On-site registration for each division opens 90 minutes before that division's first start wave.
- **Bring ID.** Spectators who want to enter the hall early go through the Spectators Desk with a ticket and ID.
- **Book spectator tickets once they go on sale.** As of October 2026, tickets were listed as coming soon.
