## Race weekend guide (checked 2026-10-15)

InBody HYROX Phoenix takes over State Farm Stadium, home of the Arizona Cardinals NFL team in Glendale, for four days of dry, mild late-February weather. The one thing to know: the stadium sits in the West Valley, a long way from downtown Phoenix, and transit out here is thin. Plan on a car or a rideshare, or book a hotel in Westgate that you can walk from.

### Race weekend at a glance

- **Dates:** Thursday 25 February to Sunday 28 February 2027
- **Venue:** State Farm Stadium
- **Address:** 1 Cardinals Drive, Glendale, AZ 85305
- **Nearest public transport:** Valley Metro bus Route 70, which runs along Glendale Avenue past Westgate. No light rail reaches Glendale's stadium district.
- **Divisions:** HYROX Open and Pro singles, Adaptive, Doubles (men, women, mixed), Pro Doubles, and men's, women's and mixed Relays
- **Also on site:** The Thunderdome viewing area and the HYROX Entertainment Zone

### Getting to the venue

**From Phoenix Sky Harbor (PHX):** The stadium puts the drive at about 30 minutes. If you're renting a car, ride the free PHX Sky Train to the Rental Car Center. It runs 24/7. Rideshare is the easy alternative. Drop-offs and pick-ups use the Black Lot, south of the stadium.

**By car:** The stadium sits off Loop 101 between Cardinals Way and Glendale Avenue. Coming from the south, exit at Cardinals Way. Coming from the north, exit at Glendale Avenue.

**By public transport:** Take the Sky Train to 44th Street/Washington, ride light rail to Glendale/19th Avenue on the B Line, then catch Route 70 west along Glendale Avenue. It's slow, so check the Valley Metro trip planner first.

### Where to stay

Base yourself in the Westgate Entertainment District around the stadium, so you can walk to your heat and skip race-morning traffic. Central Phoenix or Tempe has more character, but you'll be driving in every day.

- **Home2 Suites by Hilton (Westgate):** Steps from the stadium, with a heated pool, a gym and a free continental breakfast.
- **TownePlace Suites by Marriott (Westgate):** A five-minute walk to the stadium, with full kitchens in every suite, a heated pool and spa, and a free breakfast.
- **Residence Inn Glendale by Marriott (Westgate):** Full kitchens for cooking your own race food, a hot breakfast buffet, and a heated pool and spa.
- **Aloft Glendale at Westgate (Westgate):** Steps from the stadium, with a splash pool, a gym and self-serve breakfast.
- **Renaissance Phoenix Glendale Hotel & Conference Center (Westgate):** The full-service option, with an outdoor pool and the Desert Sage Restaurant & Bar.

### Gyms for pre-race training

- **Jump Ship CrossFit (North Phoenix):** It calls itself a CrossFit and HYROX affiliate and takes drop-ins for HYROX classes and open gym hours, with day or punch-card options. You pre-register and pay online. It's a drive north from Westgate. Neither gym here says it's an official HYROX Training Club.
- **CrossFit Full Strength (Central Phoenix):** It bills itself as the first CrossFit and HYROX gym in central Phoenix and has a HYROX training program. Drop-in details aren't published, so contact the gym first. We couldn't confirm a HYROX-equipped gym with day passes closer to Westgate.

### Where locals run

- **New River Trail (Glendale):** A wide concrete path that runs about 11 km (7 miles) north from Glendale Avenue to Rio Vista Community Park in Peoria. Its south end is on Glendale Avenue, a short drive from Westgate.
- **Grand Canal Trail (Glendale):** It meets the south end of the New River Trail near Camelback Ranch. Link the two for a longer traffic-free run.
- **Tempe Town Lake (Tempe):** About 8 km of paved paths circle the lake, next to Tempe Beach Park.

### Where to eat and fuel up

- **First Watch (Westgate):** A daytime café open from 07:00 to 14:30, with pancakes, omelets and a Quinoa Power Bowl.
- **Mensho (Westgate):** A "farm to bowl" ramen shop that sources its main ingredients from Arizona farms. Noodles and broth make a good carb load the night before.
- **Los Arbolitos de Cajeme (Westgate):** It started in 1988 as a street stand in Ciudad Obregón, Sonora. Order aguachile, zarandeado fish or grilled shrimp for a post-race Sonoran seafood feast.
- **Pizzeria Bianco (Downtown Phoenix):** The original, in Heritage Square at 623 E Adams Street. An easy pizza carb load if you're staying central.

### Race weekend events and parties

On site, the confirmed extras are the Thunderdome viewing area and the HYROX Entertainment Zone with partner activations. As of 15 October 2026, no official after-party, expo or community run had been announced. Watch HYROX's official channels for news.

### After the race

**Recovery:**

- **Hotel pools and spas (Westgate):** Residence Inn, SpringHill Suites and TownePlace Suites all list a heated pool and spa.

**Things to do:**

- Catch a **spring training** game at **Camelback Ranch**, the Dodgers' and White Sox's spring home in Glendale. The White Sox play home games there from 26 to 28 February.
- Wander the 140 acres of desert plants at the **Desert Botanical Garden** in Papago Park, east of downtown Phoenix.
- Walk off sore legs at the **Tanger Outlets**, five minutes on foot from the TownePlace Suites.

### Local insights

- **Rent the car:** Light rail stops well short of Glendale's stadium district, and the bus ride from the airport is long. Uber and Lyft are popular, and Waymo's driverless cars mostly serve downtown and the East Valley.
- **Park before the paid window:** On stadium event days, Westgate charges for parking from four hours before the event until two hours after it starts. Arrive earlier and it's free.
- **Cards only:** Stadium parking is cashless, and Westgate's parking is paid by card through an on-site QR code, the Premium Parking app or text-to-pay. Westgate warns never to pay a person in a lot.
- **Riding transit:** Valley Metro buses and light rail cost $2 a ride, capped at $4 a day. Use a Copper Card (sold at Walgreens, CVS and Circle K) or the Valley Metro app, which takes Apple Pay and Google Pay. The card and the app can't be linked, so pick one.
- **Late-February weather:** Phoenix averages highs of about 22°C (71°F) and lows near 9°C (49°F) in February, with rain on only about four days. Bring a layer for the cool dawn.
- **Clock check:** Arizona doesn't use daylight saving time. In late February, it's one hour ahead of California.
- **Spring training traffic:** All 30 MLB teams open spring training on 19 February. Race weekend overlaps the White Sox's home weekend at nearby Camelback Ranch, with the Diamondbacks visiting on Sunday 28 February. Book hotels early. MLB's labor deal expires on 1 December, so the schedule could still change.

### Race-day tips for this venue

- **Check your day.** Pro singles and all three relays race Friday, with the relays in the evening, and Pro Doubles race Saturday evening. Individual start times come out about three days before the event.
- **Bring photo ID.** Check-in opens 90 minutes before the first start time in your division, and nobody can check in for you.
- **Buy parking ahead.** The stadium recommends booking parking in advance on SeatGeek, and lots take only cards.
- **Use the Black Lot for rides.** Rideshare and friends' drop-offs and pick-ups happen in the Black Lot, south of the stadium.
- **Get spectator tickets early.** Friends need their own tickets. To get in before your check-in window, go to the Spectators Desk with your ticket and ID.
