## Race weekend guide (checked 2026-10-15)

HYROX comes to Kraków for the first time in May 2027, at EXPO Kraków, the city's trade fair hall in the east of town, between Czyżyny and Nowa Huta. The venue is about 7 km from the Old Town, so think of race weekend as two places: the quiet, practical east side for racing and the medieval center for eating and recovering. The one thing to know is that Sunday 9 May falls under Poland's Sunday trading ban, so buy your race-day food on Saturday.

### Race weekend at a glance

- **Dates:** Friday 7 May to Sunday 9 May 2027
- **Venue:** EXPO Kraków
- **Address:** Galicyjska 9, 31-586 Kraków, Poland
- **Nearest public transport:** Rondo 308. Dywizjonu tram stop (lines 1, 14 and 22), according to EXPO Kraków. Buses 174 and 178 stop at M1 Nowohucka, and buses 103, 113 and 413 at Sołtysowska.
- **Divisions:** As of 15 October 2026, the divisions and race schedule had not been published, and ticket sales were listed as coming soon. Check https://hyrox.com/ for updates.

### Getting to the venue

**From Kraków Airport (KRK):** The SKA1 train links the terminal to Kraków Główny, the main station, in about 17 to 18 minutes, with a standard single fare of 20 PLN. Trains run about twice an hour during the day. From the station, ride a tram east to Rondo 308. Dywizjonu. The airport is about 20 km from EXPO, according to the venue.

**From the Old Town or Kraków Główny:** EXPO is about 7 km from both. Trams 1, 14 and 22 serve the Rondo 308. Dywizjonu stop. Plan the route in the Jakdojade app.

**By taxi or car:** Uber and Bolt both operate in Kraków, and EXPO recommends iTaxi. If you're driving, the venue sits inside Kraków's low emission zone. Cars registered outside Poland must be registered in the zone's system in advance, even if they meet the standard.

### Where to stay

**Czyżyny and Dąbie:** Closest to the venue, mostly residential.

**Grzegórzki:** Halfway between the venue and the Old Town, near Tauron Arena.

**Old Town and Kazimierz:** The best food and atmosphere, about 7 km from EXPO.

- **Orient Hotel (Czyżyny):** On ul. Sołtysowska, the same street as one of the bus stops EXPO lists, so it's one of the closest hotels to the venue.
- **DoubleTree by Hilton Krakow Hotel & Convention Center (Dąbie):** A large conference hotel at ul. Dąbska 5, between the center and the venue.
- **Hampton by Hilton Krakow (Dąbie):** A cheaper option in the same Hilton complex at ul. Dąbska 5.
- **Mercure Krakow Fabryczna City (Grzegórzki):** At ul. Fabryczna 13 near Tauron Arena. It has a swimming pool, which is handy for a loosening swim.

### Gyms for pre-race training

- **Zdrofit Kraków Atut Galicyjska (Nowa Huta):** At Galicyjska 18, on the venue's own street. It runs scheduled HYROX classes and sells single entries for 49 PLN, according to the ibody.pl listing.
- **Well Fitness Azbud (Grzegórzki):** At Aleja Pokoju 78 on the way into town. It runs HYROX, HYROX Basic and HYROX PRO classes most days, with a listed single entry of 49 PLN.
- **CityFit Kraków (Krowodrza):** In the Principio building at ul. Armii Krajowej 25. It's a certified HYROX Training Club with a dedicated HYROX zone. CityFit sells single entries, but the price isn't confirmed.
- **Zdrofit Kraków Przybyszewskiego (Bronowice):** Another Zdrofit with weekly HYROX classes.

### Where locals run

- **Błonia (Zwierzyniec):** A huge open meadow about 700 m west of the Old Town with a perimeter of about 3.5 km. Flat and easy to reach from central hotels.
- **Vistula Boulevards (Old Town):** Riverside paths run along both banks beneath Wawel Castle, linking bridges from Dębnicki downstream toward Zabłocie.
- **Park Lotników Polskich (Czyżyny):** A 43-hectare park split by Aleja Jana Pawła II, beside the Polish Aviation Museum. It's the nearest green space for a shakeout close to the venue.

### Where to eat and fuel up

- **Mr Vincent (Kazimierz):** A pierogi specialist at Bożego Ciała 12 with traditional and vegetarian fillings. It's ideal carb loading the night before.
- **Starka (Kazimierz):** A cozy Polish restaurant near Plac Nowy. Go for homemade pierogi or barszcz with uszka (beet soup with small dumplings).
- **Pod Wawelem Kompania Kuflowa (Old Town):** A big Galician beer hall on ul. Św. Gertrudy below Wawel, for a hearty post-race dinner.
- **Chimera (Old Town):** A salad bar at ul. Św. Anny 3, open daily 10:00 to 22:00. It has a 10-meter salad counter plus hot meat and vegetarian dishes, good for a lighter lunch.

### Race weekend events and parties

As of 15 October 2026, no official after-party, expo or community run had been announced for HYROX Kraków. Watch HYROX's official channels and local HYROX classes at clubs like Zdrofit and CityFit for meetups closer to race week.

### After the race

**Recovery:**

- **Park Wodny Kraków (Prądnik Czerwony):** A water park at ul. Dobrego Pasterza 126 with a Saunarium, salt-water jacuzzis and evening sauna ceremonies. It's open daily from 8:00 to 22:00.

**Things to do:**

- Climb to **Wawel Castle** and the cathedral above the river.
- Spend an evening in **Kazimierz**, the old Jewish quarter, for cafés and restaurants around Plac Nowy.
- Visit the **Polish Aviation Museum** in Czyżyny, a short ride from the venue, if you have time before your heat.
- Take a day trip to the **Wieliczka Salt Mine** southeast of the city.

### Local insights

- **Shops close on Sunday:** Poland bans most Sunday trading, so supermarkets and malls are shut on race Sunday. Restaurants, petrol station shops, some pharmacies and Żabka convenience stores stay open. Do your shopping on Saturday.
- **Majówka week:** 1 May (Saturday) and 3 May (Monday, Constitution Day) are both public holidays in 2027, so the weekend before the race is a long holiday weekend. Shops close on public holidays too, so if you arrive early, stock up in advance.
- **Buy the ticket, then ride:** Paper tickets for city trams and buses must be validated. In the app, buy a mobile ticket right after you board, entering the vehicle number shown inside. Ticket machines on board take payment according to the sign above the door. The 70-minute combined train-and-tram ticket doesn't cover the airport.
- **Tap water is fine:** The city water company, Wodociągi Miasta Krakowa, promotes drinking water straight from the tap, so refill your bottle instead of buying plastic.
- **Pay in złoty:** Poland uses the złoty (PLN), not the euro.
- **The local pre-race snack:** The obwarzanek krakowski is a boiled, braided bread ring sold from street carts all over town. It has protected regional status and is an easy, cheap carb top-up.
- **Expect mild but changeable weather:** Early May in Kraków averages highs around 20°C (68°F) and lows around 8°C (47°F), with rain on about half the days. Pack a layer and a rain jacket.
- **EU roaming applies:** On an EU SIM, "roam like at home" rules mean no extra roaming charges. Visitors from outside the EU should set up an eSIM before landing.

### Race-day tips for this venue

- **Check in on your race day.** Registration opens 90 minutes before your division's first wave, you need photo ID, and you can't check in for someone else.
- **Watch for your start time.** Individual start times are usually linked about three days before the event, and changes aren't allowed.
- **Bring your own fuel.** EXPO's Bistro Galicja opens only at selected events, and Sunday shopping is restricted, so carry your snacks and drinks with you.
- **Tell spectators to bring ID.** Anyone entering before your check-in window goes through the Spectators Desk with a ticket and ID.
- **Plan for rain.** Early May showers are common, so keep dry clothes for the tram back into town.
