## Race weekend guide (checked 2026-10-15)

Leapmotor HYROX Barcelona brings five days of racing to Fira Barcelona Gran Via, the city's big trade-fair complex in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, just southwest of the center. The venue's metro line runs straight from the airport, so getting from arrivals to check-in is easy. Mild November weather makes it a good excuse to stay an extra day and enjoy the city once your legs recover.

### Race weekend at a glance

- **Dates:** Wednesday 11 November to Sunday 15 November 2026
- **Venue:** Fira Barcelona Gran Via
- **Address:** Av. Joan Carles I, 64, 08908 L'Hospitalet de Llobregat (Barcelona)
- **Nearest public transport:** Fira and Europa|Fira stations on Metro L9 Sud; FGC trains to Europa|Fira
- **Divisions:** HYROX Men and Women, Doubles (Men, Women, Mixed), Pro Men and Women, Pro Doubles, and Women's, Mixed and Men's Relays. Relays run on Friday 13 November only.
- **Also on site:** The HYROX Entertainment Zone with event partners, plus the Thunderdome spectator area overlooking the course

### Getting to the venue

**From Barcelona–El Prat Airport:** Metro L9 Sud runs directly from both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 to Fira and Europa|Fira, both right next to the venue, with no changes. Fira Barcelona says the line runs daily from early morning until midnight, with all-night service on weekends. Bus 46 is another direct option, and taxis can drop you at the venue's taxi ranks.

**From the city center:** From Plaça d'Espanya, FGC suburban trains (lines including S4, S8, R5 and R6) stop at Europa|Fira. From elsewhere in the city, transfer to L9 Sud from the regular metro network. Several city buses, including the H12 and V1, also stop near the venue. Use the TMB or FGC journey planner to check your route.

### Where to stay

**Plaça d'Europa (L'Hospitalet):** A cluster of modern hotels right across from the venue. It's the most convenient choice for early starts.

**Plaça d'Espanya and Sant Antoni:** A short FGC ride from Europa|Fira, with far more places to eat and a real neighborhood feel.

**Eixample:** A central, walkable base with easy metro links. Allow extra time to transfer to L9 Sud or the FGC.

Hotels to look at:

- **Hotel Porta Fira:** The red Toyo Ito tower on Plaça d'Europa, a short walk from Europa|Fira station and the venue.
- **Renaissance Barcelona Fira Hotel:** On Plaça d'Europa next to the Fira complex, with an indoor pool and gym.
- **Hampton by Hilton Barcelona Fira Gran Via:** Also on Plaça d'Europa, steps from the Fira, with a fitness room.

### Gyms for pre-race training

- **BOX CNB (Barceloneta):** An official HYROX Training Club at Club Natació Barcelona on the waterfront. The club says you don't need to be a CNB member and offers a free trial day.
- **HYBRD Academy (El Born):** Calls itself an official HYROX Training Club. It offers coached HYROX sessions, and visitors can book through Urban Sports Club.
- **DiR Tuset Boutiques (Sant Gervasi):** A central club with a dedicated HYROX area set up to recreate the race stations. Ask the club about access for visitors.

### Where locals run

- **Montjuïc (Sants-Montjuïc):** The closest hill to the venue, starting at Plaça d'Espanya, a short FGC ride from Europa|Fira. A typical 8 km loop mixes tarmac and trail with about 200 m of climbing, steep ramps and stairs, so keep the pre-race version short and easy.
- **Parc de la Ciutadella (Ciutat Vella):** A flat loop of about 1.5 km around the park's perimeter, on tarmac and park paths. Use Arc de Triomf or Ciutadella-Vila Olímpica metro.
- **Barceloneta seafront (Barceloneta):** A flat, paved out-and-back of about 5 km along the promenade between the W Hotel and Port Olímpic.
- **Carretera de les Aigües (Collserola):** A nearly flat dirt track along the hillside above the city, about 10 km end to end. The city says around 2,000 people use it a day. Take the FGC to Peu del Funicular and ride the funicular up.

### Where to eat and fuel up

- **Federal Café (Sant Antoni):** A popular brunch spot for eggs, toast and pancakes, a short ride from the FGC at Plaça d'Espanya. It's walk-in only, so go early on weekends.
- **Xemei (Poble-sec):** A Venetian restaurant near Montjuïc known for its fresh pasta, a great pick for a carb-heavy dinner the night before.
- **Can Solé (Barceloneta):** A family-run seafood restaurant open since the early 1900s, known for paella and other rice dishes. Book ahead, especially at weekends.

### Race weekend events and parties

The confirmed extras are the on-site HYROX Entertainment Zone and the Thunderdome, where spectators can watch the racing all day. As of 15 October 2026, no official after-party, expo or community run had been announced. Check HYROX's official channels and local run clubs as race week gets closer.

### After the race

**Recovery:**

- **AIRE Ancient Baths Barcelona (El Born):** A thermal bath circuit in a restored historic building, with pools at different temperatures plus steam. Book ahead.
- **Renaissance Barcelona Fira Hotel:** If you're staying there, the indoor pool is right next to the venue.

**Things to do:**

- Walk up Montjuïc from Plaça d'Espanya for gardens, museums and views over the city.
- Visit the Sagrada Família, and book timed tickets in advance.
- Wander the Gothic Quarter and El Born, then stroll the seafront at Barceloneta.
- Explore the Mercat de Sant Antoni and the cafés in the surrounding streets.

### Local insights

- **The airport metro has its own ticket:** The two airport stations on L9 Sud need a separate Airport ticket, listed at €5.90 in 2026 guides. The 10-trip T-casual card won't open the gates there, so don't buy one expecting it to cover your arrival.
- **Taxis and apps:** Official taxis are black and yellow, with a green light when free, and they must take cards. FREE NOW has the biggest taxi fleet, and Uber also books licensed taxis. Cabify uses private-hire cars, which a new Catalan taxi law aims to restrict, so don't rely on it.
- **Mind your bag:** Pickpockets work crowded metro trains, stations, La Rambla and the Raval. Watch for staged distractions such as someone "accidentally" spilling something on you.
- **Sunday closures:** By law, most shops and malls close on Sundays. If you race on Sunday 15 November, stock up on snacks and recovery food on Saturday.
- **Eat on local time:** Many restaurants serve a set lunch menu from about 14:00 to 16:00 and then close until 20:00. Plan your pre-race meal around that gap.
- **Pharmacies:** Look for the green neon cross. Pharmacists are well trained and can give advice on minor problems.
- **November weather:** Expect highs around 18°C (64°F) and lows near 12°C (54°F) in the city, with only about five rainy days and plenty of sunshine. The sea is still about 17°C (63°F).

### Race-day tips for this venue

- **Know your entrance.** Fira Gran Via is huge. Check which hall you're racing in and which station is closest before you leave.
- **Arrive early.** Give yourself extra time to walk through the complex, check in and drop your bag. HYROX says individual start times are posted about three days before the event and can't be changed.
- **Bring ID.** Spectators arriving before their check-in window go through the Spectators Desk with a ticket and ID.
- **Spectators:** Athlete tickets only get you in on your own race day. Friends who want to watch on other days need spectator tickets.
- **Photos:** HYROX's photo partner Sportograf usually has pictures online about 48 hours after you race.
- **Weather:** November in Barcelona is usually mild but can be rainy. Pack a light waterproof and a warm layer for the walk back after racing.
