## Race weekend guide (checked 2026-10-15)

Medicover Sport HYROX Warsaw brings five days of racing to PGE Narodowy, the national stadium built for Euro 2012 on the Praga side of the Vistula. Warsaw is one of the fastest-growing races on the calendar: GSMONLINE reported a record 14,000 athletes in April 2026. The one thing to know is that the airport train runs straight to the stadium, as long as you board an S2 and not an S3.

### Race weekend at a glance

- **Dates:** Wednesday 7 April to Sunday 11 April 2027
- **Venue:** PGE Narodowy
- **Address:** al. Księcia Józefa Poniatowskiego 1, 03-901 Warsaw
- **Nearest public transport:** Stadion Narodowy (Metro M2) and Warszawa Stadion (SKM and Koleje Mazowieckie trains), with trams and buses stopping at Rondo Waszyngtona
- **Divisions:** Open (singles), Pro (singles), Doubles, Pro Doubles, Relay and Adaptive. On the provisional schedule, singles Pro races are on Friday 9 April, Pro Doubles on Saturday 10 April, and the Friday Night Relays (men's, women's and mixed) on Friday evening.
- **Also on site:** An Entertainment Zone with event partners and the Thunderdome spectator area

### Getting to the venue

**From Warsaw Chopin Airport:** Take SKM line S2, which stops at Warszawa Stadion with no change. Wikivoyage puts the ride downtown at about 25 minutes, with trains roughly every 30 minutes. Don't board the S3, which skips Stadion. A zone 1 ZTM ticket is valid.

**From Warsaw Modlin Airport:** Koleje Mazowieckie's RL service runs direct to Warszawa Centralna. Then take a tram east to Rondo Waszyngtona.

**From the city center:** Metro M2 runs to Stadion Narodowy. From Warszawa Centralna, trams 7, 9, 22, 24 and 25 cross the river to Rondo Waszyngtona, a ride that one stadium guide puts at under 15 minutes.

### Where to stay

**Praga:** The stadium's side of the river, now one of Warsaw's trendiest areas.

**Powiśle and Nowy Świat:** Across the river, with more food and a short metro or tram ride to the venue.

**Old Town:** Good for sightseeing after racing.

Hotels to look at:

- **Tulip Residences Warsaw Targowa:** In Praga, about 950 m from the stadium according to one listing. Some apartments have kitchenettes.
- **Moxy Warsaw Praga:** In the restored Koneser distillery at Ząbkowska 29, near Dworzec Wileński metro station on the same M2 line as the venue.
- **Hotel Indigo Warsaw Nowy Świat:** On Smolna, roughly 2 km from the stadium by listing estimates, near Nowy Świat-Uniwersytet metro.
- **Puro Warszawa Stare Miasto:** Near the Old Town, which Expedia lists about 2.6 km from the stadium.

### Gyms for pre-race training

- **CityFit Rondo ONZ (Śródmieście):** One of two CityFit clubs in Warsaw that CityFit lists as certified HYROX Training Clubs. CityFit sells 24-hour and 72-hour passes, and clubs are open 24/7.
- **CityFit Zielony Targówek (Targówek):** The other certified HYROX Training Club, in the CH Zielony Targówek mall at Głębocka 13. The club describes a dedicated HYROX area.
- **CityFit Galeria Rondo Wiatraczna (Grochów):** The closest CityFit to the stadium, on Grochowska in Praga-Południe. It sells the same short passes, but its HYROX zone isn't confirmed, so check with the club.

### Where locals run

- **Park Skaryszewski (Praga-Południe):** The big park next to the stadium, about a 10-minute walk from Stadion Narodowy metro. The loop around the lake is about 2 km on mostly paved, flat paths. A free 5 km parkrun has been held there on Saturday mornings, so check parkrun's site for the race-week Saturday.
- **Vistula Boulevards (Powiśle):** The classic Warsaw river run, with views across to the stadium. The best stretch is about 5 km between the Łazienkowski and Gdański bridges. The west bank is paved, while the east bank is greener, with gravel paths.
- **Łazienki Park (Śródmieście):** Tree-lined paths past the Palace on the Isle and the Chopin Monument.
- **Pole Mokotowskie (Mokotów):** Flat and open, with a bit over 4 km of paved and unpaved paths.

### Where to eat and fuel up

- **Pyzy Flaki Gorące (Praga):** Right behind Bazar Różyckiego, Warsaw's oldest market, at Brzeska 29/31. Order pyzy: soft potato dumplings filled with beef. It's the local carb hit, and the bar also does a vegan, gluten-free version.
- **Gościniec Polskie Pierogi (Śródmieście):** Choose the Nowy Świat 43 branch for boiled or pan-fried pierogi, potato pancakes and cabbage rolls. A solid carb-heavy dinner.
- **Bar Prasowy (Śródmieście):** A classic milk bar on Marszałkowska that has been feeding Warsaw since 1954. Cheap soups and pierogi for lunch.
- **Elektrownia Powiśle Food Hall (Powiśle):** A converted power station at Dobra 42 with 16 food concepts, including pizza and Italian, dim sum and curry.

### Race weekend events and parties

The confirmed extras are the on-site Entertainment Zone and the Thunderdome viewing area. As of 15 October 2026, no official after-party, expo or community run had been announced. Watch HYROX's official channels and local run clubs closer to race week.

### After the race

**Recovery:**

- **Sauna Wisła (Port Czerniakowski):** A free, city-run floating sauna with a cold plunge, booked in 1.5-hour sessions. It runs as an autumn-winter attraction, so check its schedule to see if it's still open in April.

**Things to do:**

- Wander the rebuilt, UNESCO-listed **Old Town** and Castle Square.
- Spend a couple of hours at the **Warsaw Uprising Museum**.
- See the Cold War-era signs at the **Neon Museum**, which has moved to the Palace of Culture and Science.
- Take a slow recovery walk through **Łazienki Park**.

### Local insights

- **One ticket for everything:** ZTM tickets work on the metro, trams, buses and SKM trains. Options include 75-minute, 24-hour, 72-hour and weekend tickets. Validate paper tickets as soon as you board, or at the gates before metro platforms. Inspectors are strict.
- **Machines on board take cards:** Ticket machines inside trams and buses take cards or BLIK, not cash. If you buy in the Jakdojade app, the ticket isn't active until you scan the QR sticker near the doors.
- **Use apps, not airport touts:** Bolt and Uber both work in Warsaw. At the airport, ignore the touts outside Arrivals and use the official taxi kiosk or an app.
- **Sunday 11 April is a non-trading Sunday:** Poland's Sunday trading ban closes supermarkets and malls on most Sundays. Pharmacies, petrol-station shops and bakeries can stay open. If you race on Sunday, buy breakfast and snacks on Saturday.
- **No holiday clash:** Easter falls on 28 March in 2027, and Easter Monday is a public holiday. Both are over before race week, so expect normal shop hours and transit service from Wednesday to Saturday.
- **April is cool and changeable:** NOAA-based records give average highs around 13°C (56°F) and lows around 3°C (37°F), with rain on about a third of days.
- **Drink the tap water:** Tap water is safe across Poland. Restaurants often bring bottled water, so ask for tap if you want it.
- **Paying and tipping:** Cards are accepted almost everywhere. If asked, choose to pay in złoty rather than your home currency. About 10% is a normal restaurant tip, and saying "dziękuję" as you hand over cash means keep the change. There's no tipping custom for taxi drivers.

### Race-day tips for this venue

- **Board the right train.** Only S2 stops at Warszawa Stadion. SKM sometimes reroutes S2 for stadium events, so check its notices.
- **Arrive early.** Race-day check-in opens 90 minutes before your division's first wave. You can only check in on your own competition day, and you need ID.
- **Check your start time.** HYROX says individual start times are posted about three days before the event and can't be changed.
- **Sort spectator tickets.** Friends need their own spectator tickets. Anyone entering before their check-in window goes through the Spectators Desk with a ticket and ID.
- **Dress for the walk.** April can be cold and wet, so bring dry layers for the trip home.
