## Race weekend guide (checked 2026-10-15)

HYROX Milan runs in early December at Fiera Milano in Rho, the city's huge exhibition grounds at the far western end of the red M1 metro line. Metro and suburban trains stop at its gates, so you can sleep in town. The weekend also runs into Milan's holidays, Sant'Ambrogio on 7 December and the Immaculate Conception on 8 December, so an extra day shows you the city at its most festive.

### Race weekend at a glance

- **Dates:** Friday 4 December to Sunday 6 December 2026
- **Venue:** Fiera Milano (Rho)
- **Address:** Fiera Milano, Viale Porta Ovest, 20017 Rho (Milan), Italy
- **Nearest public transport:** Rho Fiera, the end of the M1 (red) metro line, also served by suburban lines S5, S6 and S11 and some regional trains. The station connects to the fairground through the East Gate (Porta Est).
- **Divisions:** HYROX Men and Women, Pro Men and Women, Doubles (Men, Women, Mixed), Pro Doubles (Men, Women) and Relays (Men, Women, Mixed)

### Getting to the venue

**From Milan Malpensa (MXP):** Take the Malpensa Express to Milano Cadorna. The trip takes about 37 minutes, with a train every 30 minutes. At Cadorna, change to the M1 toward Rho Fiera. You can also take the Malpensa Express to Porta Garibaldi or Centrale and change to an S5, S6 or S11 suburban train to Rho Fiera.

**From Milan Linate (LIN):** Take the M4 (blue) to Dateo and change to the S5 or S6 to Rho Fiera. The other option is the M4 to San Babila, then the M1 to the end of the line.

**From Milano Centrale and the city center:** From Centrale, take the M2 (green) to Cadorna and change to the M1. Or walk to Porta Garibaldi and take an S line straight to Rho Fiera. From the Duomo, the M1 runs direct.

### Where to stay

Stay in Rho to walk to the fair, near an M1 stop such as Lotto or Cadorna for a one-seat ride on race morning, or around Porta Garibaldi and Centrale for airport trains, S lines to Rho Fiera and better evenings out.

- **NH Milano Fiera:** The towers right next to the exhibition center, about 800 m from Rho Fiera metro station.
- **Meliá Milano:** On Via Masaccio, about two minutes on foot from Lotto on the M1, so it's a direct metro ride to Rho Fiera. Listings mention a 24-hour gym and a spa, but ask whether they're open before you book.
- **Hotel VIU Milan:** On Via Aristotile Fioravanti near Porta Garibaldi, with complimentary gym and spa access and a rooftop pool for recovery.
- **Starhotels E.c.ho.:** About 100 m from Milano Centrale. Handy if you arrive by train.

### Gyms for pre-race training

- **Virgin Active Milano Diaz (Duomo):** Near the Duomo, with a functional training studio and a sauna, open 8:00–20:00 on weekends. Virgin Active Italy runs a 45-minute "Hyrox Training Club" class, but no day pass is advertised, so ask the club about visitor access.
- **Virgin Active Milano Città Studi (Città Studi):** Also lists the Hyrox Training Club class. Virgin Active signed a global HYROX partnership in 2026, with clubs affiliated step by step, so check current sessions and visitor options.
- **Nest Training Club (Porta Venezia):** A CrossFit and HYROX box on Via Amedeo d'Aosta, open 7:00–21:00 on weekdays with short weekend hours. It's on Wellhub Gold, but no drop-in price is published, so message them first.

### Where locals run

- **Monte Stella (QT8):** A 45 m hill built from World War II rubble, with about 37 hectares of park around it. Good for easy loops and short hill strides. Get off the M1 at QT8, which is on the way to Rho Fiera.
- **Parco Sempione (Centro):** The big city-center park behind the Castello Sforzesco, about 38 hectares, with the Arch of Peace at its far end and eight outdoor fitness trails. It's flat, a few minutes' walk from Cadorna on the M1.

### Where to eat and fuel up

- **Ratanà (Porta Nuova):** Opposite the Bosco Verticale, in a former tram depot. This is the place for risotto alla milanese, the saffron rice Milan is known for, either the classic version or with ossobuco. Book ahead.
- **Trattoria Masuelli San Marco (Porta Romana):** An old Milanese trattoria on Viale Umbria with saffron risotto and cotoletta, the city's breaded veal cutlet. Closed on Sundays.
- **Luini (Duomo):** A bakery on Via Santa Radegonda, a few steps from the Duomo, selling hot panzerotti, fried filled dough pockets. Cheap and fast, but closed on Sundays.
- **Marchesi 1824 (Magenta):** A historic pastry shop on Via Santa Maria alla Porta, near Cadorna. Have an espresso and pastry before a later heat, or take home a panettone.

### Race weekend events and parties

As of 15 October 2026, no official after-party, expo or community run had been announced for HYROX Milan. HYROX lists an Entertainment Zone at the venue. Watch HYROX's official channels for news. In the city, La Scala opens its opera season on Monday 7 December, Sant'Ambrogio's day, when the Oh Bej! Oh Bej! Christmas fair traditionally opens by the Castello Sforzesco (2026 dates not yet confirmed).

### After the race

**Recovery:**

- **QC Termemilano (Porta Romana):** A day spa in a 19th-century tram depot, with saunas, steam rooms, hot tubs, a garden and a bio-sauna inside an old tram. Bring your own swimsuit, and book treatments in advance because they aren't included in entry.

**Things to do:**

- Climb to the rooftop terraces of the **Duomo di Milano** for a view across the city.
- Walk through the **Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II** shopping arcade to the square in front of **La Scala**.
- Book well ahead to see Leonardo's **Last Supper** at Santa Maria delle Grazie.
- Explore the courtyards and museums of the **Castello Sforzesco**, then walk out through Parco Sempione.

### Local insights

- **Tap in and tap out:** Metro gates take contactless cards and phone wallets; tap in and out. Rho Fiera needs a Mi1–Mi3 ticket (€2.20); a day ticket is €7.60.
- **Check which M1 branch you're on:** The red line splits into Rho Fiera and Bisceglie branches, so check the platform display.
- **Monday and Tuesday are holidays:** 7 December is Milan's patron saint's day and 8 December is a national holiday. Expect reduced hours if you stay on.
- **Taxis are easiest by app:** Use FREENOW or appTaxi to book licensed Milan taxis. Uber has far fewer cars here, and finding a taxi in Milan can take a while, so book early.
- **Eat risotto the night before:** Risotto alla milanese is the local carb load. Save the ossobuco, the braised veal shank often served with it, for after the race.
- **Read the bill:** A coperto is a per-person cover charge and servizio means service is included. Otherwise locals round up or leave 5–10 percent in cash.
- **Drink from the tap:** Italian tap water is safe, and Milan's network is under constant controls. Refill a bottle at your hotel.
- **Pack for cold, damp days:** December highs average about 7°C (45°F) and lows about 1°C (33°F).

### Race-day tips for this venue

- **Buy the right ticket.** A standard urban ticket doesn't cover Rho Fiera, so tap a contactless card or buy a Mi1–Mi3 ticket.
- **Allow time inside the fairground.** The station comes in at Porta Est, and the halls stretch a long way west toward Porta Ovest. Give yourself extra minutes to find your hall before check-in.
- **Bring physical ID.** HYROX check-in usually requires photo ID. Check your athlete email for the rules.
- **Dress for the platform.** Wear a warm layer over your kit and pack dry clothes for the cold trip home.
- **Sort spectator tickets early.** Friends and family need a spectator ticket from HYROX's official channels.
