## Race weekend guide (checked 2026-10-15)

HYROX Monterrey returns to Cintermex, the big convention center inside Parque Fundidora, a former steelworks turned into the city's favorite park. You can stay right next to the hall, jog among old blast furnaces the day before, and celebrate with cabrito afterward. The main thing to plan for is mid-April heat, so plan your hydration and do any outdoor running early in the day.

### Race weekend at a glance

- **Dates:** Friday 16 to Sunday 18 April 2027
- **Venue:** Cintermex, inside Parque Fundidora (the official page lists only the address, which matches Cintermex)
- **Address:** Av. Fundidora 501, Col. Obrera, 64010 Monterrey, N.L., Mexico
- **Nearest public transport:** Y Griega and Arena Monterrey (formerly Parque Fundidora) stations on Metro Line 1. A local guide puts Y Griega about 5 minutes' walk from the park.
- **Divisions:** HYROX hadn't published the 2027 divisions as of 15 October 2026. Third-party listings mention singles, Doubles and Relays.

### Getting to the venue

**From Monterrey International Airport (MTY):** Taxis and ride-hail cars are the easiest option, and race guides put the trip at about 25 to 35 minutes. Since mid-2026, Uber and DiDi pickups have used an authorized bay about 250 meters from Terminal C, and the app shows you how to get there.

**From downtown and the Macroplaza:** Take Metro Line 1 toward Exposición and get off at Y Griega or Arena Monterrey. You can also walk the 2.5 km Paseo Santa Lucía riverwalk from the Macroplaza straight into the park.

**By car:** Cintermex says there are more than 5,000 parking spaces around the venue, including about 2,280 in its own E1 lot.

### Where to stay

The **Centro-Fundidora** area lets you walk to the hall. **Downtown**, near the Macroplaza and Barrio Antiguo, has more restaurants and is a Metro ride or riverwalk stroll away. **San Pedro Garza García** is the upscale, very safe business district to the southwest, but you'll need a car or ride-hail to reach the venue.

- **Holiday Inn Parque Fundidora:** Cintermex says an enclosed tunnel links the hotel lobby to the venue's first level, so this is as close as you can get.
- **Antaris Cintermex:** A bridge from the lobby leads straight into Parque Fundidora at Access 1, next to the venue.
- **Holiday Inn Express Fundidora:** Cintermex says a bridge connects it to the Parque Fundidora sidewalk, a few steps from the venue.
- **Fiesta Americana Monterrey Pabellón M:** It's downtown on Av. Juárez, close to the Macroplaza and Paseo Santa Lucía, with a gym, spa and lap pool on the sixth floor.
- **Live Aqua Monterrey:** It's in the San Pedro financial district, with a 24-hour gym and a spa.

### Gyms for pre-race training

- **Elite Motion (San Pedro Garza García):** A newer HYROX and hybrid gym on Av. Corregidora with a covered sled track, an open gym and a sauna and cold-water recovery area. It sells single classes, so ask about visitor access before you go.
- **Fiesta Inn Monterrey Fundidora (Fierro):** If you stay here, the hotel's fully equipped gym is handy, about 5 minutes' drive from the park.
- **Fiesta Americana Monterrey Pabellón M (Centro):** Its sixth-floor gym is open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., handy for a short shakeout.

We couldn't confirm drop-in access at any official HYROX Training Club in Monterrey, so contact gyms before you travel.

### Where locals run

- **Parque Fundidora (Obrera):** The park is right outside the venue and opens free from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. It has 80 hectares of green space, a 3.4 km bike path and the old Fundidora circuit, which is now a walking and cycling route.
- **Paseo Santa Lucía (Centro):** This 2.5 km canal walk links the Macroplaza with Parque Fundidora. Police patrol it regularly, and it makes an easy out-and-back from downtown hotels.

### Where to eat and fuel up

- **El Gran Pastor (Centro):** The Plaza Centro branch is on Av. Constitución, on the ground floor of the Crowne Plaza. It has a breakfast buffet with machacado and eggs, and its cabrito, roast kid goat, makes a classic post-race meal. It opens at 7 a.m.
- **El Rey del Cabrito (Centro):** A Monterrey institution on Av. Constitución, near the MARCO museum, known for cabrito al pastor with flour tortillas and frijoles con veneno. Save it for your post-race feast, and check opening hours before you go.
- **Tacos Orinoco (Del Valle):** It's on Río Orinoco in San Pedro and is a local favorite for quick tacos once you've finished racing.

### Race weekend events and parties

As of 15 October 2026, no official after-party, expo or community run had been announced for HYROX Monterrey 2027, and tickets weren't yet on sale. BBVA México, a HYROX sponsor in Mexico for the 2026-27 season, says Monterrey expects more than 14,000 athletes. Watch HYROX's official site and social channels, and BBVA México announcements, closer to race week.

### After the race

**Recovery:**

- **Live Aqua Monterrey Spa (San Pedro Garza García):** It offers massages and body treatments daily, with shorter hours on weekends.
- **Fiesta Americana Pabellón M Spa (Centro):** This spa downtown offers massages and body treatments on the sixth floor.

**Things to do:**

- Visit the **Museo del Acero Horno 3**, a restored blast furnace in Parque Fundidora, steps from the venue.
- Take a guided boat ride along the **Paseo Santa Lucía**, which leaves from near the Museo de Historia Mexicana.
- Walk the **Macroplaza** and visit the Museo de Historia Mexicana beside it.
- Spend the evening in **Barrio Antiguo**, with its colonial streets and craft beer bars.

### Local insights

- **Get a Me Muevo card:** The Metro is phasing out cash. Pay with a Me Muevo card, which costs MXN 20 with no credit loaded, or with a QR code in the Urbani app. Top up with cash at OXXO. We couldn't confirm tap-to-pay bank cards, so don't count on them. Fares rise 10 centavos a month and were set to reach MXN 11.00 in January 2027.
- **Look for the station's new name:** Parque Fundidora station on Line 1 was renamed Arena Monterrey in March 2026. Older maps still show the old name.
- **Use Uber or DiDi:** Both work across the city, and travel guides call them the safest and easiest way to get around. Take a taxi only from a stand or one you've called, and make sure the driver uses the meter.
- **Drink bottled water:** Tap water is officially potable, but travel guides still recommend bottled or purified water. Be careful with ice at small stands.
- **Carry some pesos:** Cards work at hotels and larger restaurants. Smaller family-run places often take cash only, and a few add about 5% for card payments. Tip 10 to 15% at restaurants, but you don't need to tip taxi drivers.
- **Fuel like a regiomontano:** Machacado con huevo, dried beef scrambled with eggs, is the classic northern breakfast. Save cabrito and arrachera for your post-race meal.
- **Plan for heat, not crowds:** April averages a high of 31°C (88°F) and a low of 18°C (65°F), with only about four or five rainy days. Easter falls on 28 March 2027, so Semana Santa is over well before race weekend.
- **Find a pharmacy nearby:** Farmacias Benavides was founded in Monterrey in 1917 and has stores across the city. OXXO stores are everywhere for water and sports drinks.

### Race-day tips for this venue

- **Bring photo ID.** You must show ID at check-in, and you can only check in on the day you race. You can't check in for anyone else.
- **Arrive well before your wave.** On-site registration for each division opens 90 minutes before its first start wave, so give yourself a buffer on top of that.
- **Have a backup Metro station.** If Y Griega is crowded or closed, use Arena Monterrey or Félix U. Gómez and walk in.
- **Hydrate before you arrive.** Spring heat in Monterrey can be draining. Drink steadily on the day before and the morning of your race.
- **Spectators need their own tickets.** They weren't on sale as of mid-October 2026, so set an alert.
