## Race weekend guide (checked 2026-10-15)

HYROX Poznań fills the halls of the Poznań International Fair for three days of racing in late November. The fairground sits directly opposite Poznań Główny, the main train station, so you can step off a train or the airport bus and be at the venue within minutes. Expect cold, damp, short days outside and a warm hall inside, and plan for the fact that most shops close on race Sunday.

### Race weekend at a glance

- **Dates:** Friday 20 to Sunday 22 November 2026
- **Venue:** Poznań International Fair (MTP)
- **Address:** Głogowska 14, 60-734 Poznań
- **Nearest public transport:** Poznań Główny train station, directly opposite the fairground; the station bus stop used by the airport line is about 350 m from MTP
- **Divisions:** Men and Women singles; Men Pro and Women Pro; Men's, Women's and Mixed Doubles; Men's and Women's Pro Doubles; Men's, Women's and Mixed Relay. Some divisions have sold out, and a waitlist is open for athletes who missed a ticket.

### Getting to the venue

**From Poznań–Ławica Airport (POZ):** Bus 159 runs from the stop right outside arrivals to Poznań Główny in about 22 to 30 minutes, roughly every 15 to 25 minutes. Buy your ticket at the machine by the stop before you board (it takes cash and cards) and validate it once on the bus. Taxis wait outside arrivals around the clock, and a local transfer company puts the drive to the hotels opposite MTP at about 12 to 22 minutes, longer during busy fair days.

**From Poznań Główny station:** The fairground is across the road from the station. The 159 bus stop sits downstairs on Dworcowa Street by the old station building, and from there the venue is about 350 m on foot.

**Around town:** Trams and buses cover the city, and you can tap a contactless bank card on the terminal inside every vehicle instead of buying a paper ticket.

### Where to stay

Base yourself around the fairground and station if you want to walk to your start. The **Old Town** puts you among restaurants and the Old Market Square, a short tram ride away. The **Plac Andersa** area in the center has bigger business hotels with pools.

- **Mercure Poznań Centrum:** It's on Roosevelta, literally opposite the fair, and a transfer firm puts the walk to MTP's main entrance hall at about 3 minutes.
- **Sheraton Poznan Hotel:** It's on Bukowska right next to the fairground, about a 5-minute walk to the MTP entrance hall.
- **Andersia Hotel & SPA:** It's on Plac Andersa close to the fair, and guests get its pool, jacuzzi, sauna and gym, open 6:00 to 22:00.
- **PURO Poznań Stare Miasto:** It's on Stawna in the Old Town, a 4-minute walk from the Old Market Square, with a gym and small sauna for guests.

### Gyms for pre-race training

- **CrossFit Poznań (Budziszyńska Street):** It sells a single-class drop-in pass for 60 zł online, so you can book one session to move before race day. HYROX-specific classes aren't confirmed.
- **CityFit (Galeria Pestka):** This 24/7 club at Aleje Solidarności 47 can be used on a 24-hour pass bought through the CityFit app. CityFit has certified HYROX zones in selected clubs, but it's not confirmed this one has one, so ask first.

### Where locals run

- **Lake Malta (Malta):** The path around this artificial lake, home to the Malta regatta course, is about 5.6 km, a natural easy shakeout loop on the east side of the city.
- **Cytadela Park (Winogrady):** Poznań's largest park covers about 100 hectares on the old fortress slopes, with monumental stairs up to the hilltop monument if you want a few gentle strides uphill.

### Where to eat and fuel up

- **Avenida Poznań (Poznań Główny):** The mall next to the station has restaurants open daily, including Sunday from 9:00 to 20:00 and is the easiest pre-race meal near the venue.
- **Pyrabar (Stare Miasto):** This potato restaurant on Strzelecka serves potato dumplings, pancakes and casseroles, simple carbs that sit well the night before.
- **Na Winklu (Śródka):** It's an In Your Pocket editor's pick for pierogi with unusual fillings, oversized baked dumplings and daily soups, with an English menu.
- **Ratuszova (Stare Miasto):** It serves modern Polish cooking on the Old Market Square next to the Town Hall, with a lunch menu from 12:00 to 17:00. It closes at 20:00 on Sundays.

### Race weekend events and parties

As of 15 October 2026, no official after-party, community run or other side event had been announced for HYROX Poznań. The event page mentions a HYROX Entertainment Zone with partners inside the venue. Watch HYROX Poland's official channels in race week.

### After the race

**Recovery:**

- **Termy Maltańskie (Malta):** This lakeside water park has a "Sauny & Wellness" zone with 16 saunas and bathhouses, open from 11:30 to 23:00 on weekends, plus a 50 m pool.
- **Andersia Wellness Club (Plac Andersa):** Hotel guests can soak in the pool, jacuzzi, Finnish sauna and sanarium.

**Things to do:**

- Be on the **Old Market Square** at noon to watch the mechanical goats butt heads above the **Town Hall** clock.
- Taste a white-poppy-seed crescent at the **Rogalowe Muzeum**, a live show about Poznań's St. Martin's croissant.
- Walk across to **Ostrów Tumski**, the island where Poznań began, to see the cathedral.
- Cross the footbridge to **Śródka** for an easy post-race stroll and a plate of pierogi.

### Local insights

- **Tap and ride:** Every tram and bus has a terminal that records your ticket on your contactless bank card. Apps such as Jakdojade also sell tickets, but you must activate them by scanning the QR code in the vehicle.
- **The weekend ticket trick:** A 24-hour paper ticket validated between 20:00 Friday and 12:59 Saturday turns into a weekend ticket that's valid until midnight Sunday.
- **Airport bus trap:** Bus 159 has no ticket machine on board, so buy at the stop and validate on the bus. Bolt works for the same trip, and airport taxis run about 30 to 60 PLN to the station.
- **Race Sunday means closed shops:** Poland's near-total Sunday trading ban means supermarkets and most shops are shut on 22 November. Even Avenida's shops close, though its restaurants stay open. Buy food, gels and anything from the pharmacy in Avenida on Saturday.
- **Drink the tap water:** Aquanet, the city water company, says Poznań tap water is safe to drink. Some cafés and bars take part in its "Kranówka Poznańska" campaign and serve tap water.
- **Late-November weather:** Poznań averages highs of about 7°C (45°F) and lows near 2°C (36°F) in November, with rain on about 13 days and only around 54 hours of sunshine all month.
- **Eat like a Poznaniak:** The local carb staple is pyry z gzikiem, potatoes boiled in their skins with gzik, a fresh-cheese spread with sour cream, chives and radish.
- **Data from home:** Visitors with an EU, Norwegian, Icelandic or Liechtenstein SIM roam at home prices under EU rules. Everyone else should set up an eSIM or local plan before landing.

### Race-day tips for this venue

- **Bring photo ID.** You can only check in on the day you race, and nobody can check in for you.
- **Arrive 90 minutes early.** On-site registration for each division opens 90 minutes before its first start wave.
- **Pack one cabin-size bag.** HYROX asks athletes to use bag drop 45 to 60 minutes before their race, and there may be queues.
- **Buy spectator tickets in advance.** Spectators can't buy tickets on site, and your athlete wristband only gets you in on race day. Supporters with a ticket and ID can enter early through the Spectators Desk.
- **Check your day's schedule.** Relays run on Friday evening, and Sunday's last doubles waves start in the evening. Individual start times come out about 3 days before the race and can't be changed.

### FAQ
