## Race weekend guide (checked 2026-10-15)

HYROX Rotterdam runs over four days at Rotterdam Ahoy, the big event complex on the edge of Zuiderpark in the south of the city. Ahoy says Zuidplein metro station is about a 5-minute walk away, and the metro from Rotterdam Centraal gets you there in about 10 minutes, so you can stay almost anywhere along that line. Early April is cool, so pack layers.

### Race weekend at a glance

- **Dates:** Thursday 1 April to Sunday 4 April 2027
- **Venue:** Rotterdam Ahoy (the hall had not been announced as of 15 October 2026)
- **Address:** Ahoyweg 10, 3084 BA Rotterdam, Netherlands
- **Nearest public transport:** Zuidplein metro station (lines D and E), which Ahoy says is about a 5-minute walk
- **Divisions:** Singles, Doubles and Relay are listed. As of 15 October 2026, the race schedule and full division breakdown had not been published.

### Getting to the venue

**From Amsterdam Schiphol:** Ahoy says the Intercity Direct train reaches Rotterdam Centraal in about 25 minutes. From there, take metro D or E toward Zuidplein. By taxi, Ahoy puts Schiphol at 50 to 60 minutes depending on traffic.

**From Rotterdam The Hague Airport:** Bus 33 runs to Rotterdam Centraal, and the airport puts the trip at about 30 minutes. A taxi to Ahoy takes about 20 minutes, according to the venue.

**From Rotterdam Centraal and the center:** Metro lines D and E run from Centraal through Beurs, where they cross lines A, B and C, to Zuidplein. Ahoy says the ride takes about 10 minutes.

### Where to stay

**Kop van Zuid**, by the Erasmus Bridge, is the sweet spot: river views, good restaurants and a direct metro to Ahoy from Wilhelminaplein. The **city center** around Blaak and the Markthal is better for food and evenings. Stay near **Zuidplein** if you want the shortest walk to the start.

- **ibis Styles Rotterdam Ahoy (Zuidplein):** The hotel Ahoy itself names in its parking information, the most practical choice if you're driving.
- **Hotel New York (Kop van Zuid):** A landmark hotel on the Wilhelminapier, next to the Erasmus Bridge. The hotel says Wilhelminaplein metro runs directly to Ahoy, and reception sells water taxi tickets.
- **Room Mate Bruno (Kop van Zuid):** On Wilhelminakade, on the same pier as Hotel New York and its metro and tram stops.
- **Motel One Rotterdam (Centrum):** On Hoogstraat, a central, good-value base close to the Markthal and the Cube Houses.

### Gyms for pre-race training

- **BigGym Rotterdam (Boezembocht):** It has a HYROX zone in a 4,000 m² functional area and names HYROX as an official training partner. A day pass costs €10 and covers group classes.
- **GYMFIELD (Kralingen):** It calls itself "the HYROX gym of Rotterdam" and runs HYROX simulations that non-members can join for €25. You can also book a trial session, but no drop-in price is listed.
- **Wildhearts Training Club (Centrum):** A functional training gym near Blaak metro. It offers three trial classes for €30 and a drop-in class planner.

### Where locals run

- **Zuiderpark (Charlois):** At 215 ha, it's described as the largest city park in the Netherlands, and Ahoy sits on its north side. This is your shakeout run straight from the venue, on flat park paths.
- **Kralingse Bos (Kralingen):** The woods around the Kralingse Plas lake cover about 200 ha, half of it water. A parkrun has been held there on most Saturday mornings since 2021, so check parkrun's site if you're in town on Saturday 3 April.
- **Erasmus Bridge (Kop van Zuid):** The 802 m bridge has wide sidewalks on both sides. Run it from Kop van Zuid hotels for a flat out-and-back with the best skyline view in the city.

### Where to eat and fuel up

- **Pannenkoekenboot (Parkhaven):** A 75-minute cruise on the Maas with unlimited sweet and savory Dutch pancakes, from €27.50. It leaves from Parkhaven, by the Euromast.
- **Markthal (Centrum):** The arched market hall lists more than 100 food spots. On Sundays it opens only from 12:00 to 18:00, so plan an early breakfast somewhere else.
- **Dudok (Centrum):** The Rotterdam café that grew from its apple pie, now serving breakfast from 09:00 daily on the car-free Meent.
- **De Ballentent (Parkkade):** A harbor pub on the Parkkade known for its huge meatballs, with the kitchen open from 11:00 to 21:00 every day.

### Race weekend events and parties

As of 15 October 2026, no official after-party, shakeout run or community event for HYROX Rotterdam had been announced. Inside the venue, HYROX usually has an Entertainment Zone with partners and a Recovery Zone after the finish. Watch HYROX's official channels and local run clubs closer to race week.

### After the race

**Recovery:**

- **Thermen Holiday (Schiedam):** A large sauna resort just west of Rotterdam. Regular days are nude, but every Tuesday is a swimwear day, and so is one weekend day, alternating between Saturday and Sunday. Check its calendar before you go.

**Things to do:**

- Walk across the **Erasmus Bridge** at golden hour for the classic skyline view.
- Look up at the **Cube Houses** by Blaak station. One "show cube" is open to visitors.
- Visit **Fenix**, Rotterdam's art museum about migration, open Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 to 17:00.

### Local insights

- **Tap to ride:** RET's metro, tram and bus take contactless bank cards and phones through OVpay, including foreign Visa, Mastercard, Maestro and V PAY cards, Apple Pay and Google Wallet. Check in and out with the same card or device. Take that card out of your wallet each time, or the reader may charge a different card.
- **The Schiphol supplement trap:** Taking the Intercity Direct between Schiphol and Rotterdam requires a supplement. Before you board, tap your card on the separate pillar marked "Toeslag" on the platform.
- **Ride-hail:** Uber and Bolt both run in Rotterdam. At Ahoy, Uber pickups are next to the forecourt, Bolt drivers usually wait on Twentestraat, and certified taxis queue at the front.
- **Tipping is optional:** Tipping isn't expected, because staff earn at least minimum wage. Rounding up or leaving 5 to 10% for good service at a restaurant is normal.
- **Drink the tap water:** Rotterdam's water comes from Evides, under Dutch standards it calls extremely strict. Refill your bottle and skip the bottled water.
- **Late starts on Sundays and Mondays:** Zuidplein shopping center, by the venue, opens at 12:00 on Sundays and 11:00 on Mondays. Buy race snacks by Saturday afternoon or Friday evening, when it's open until 21:00.
- **April weather:** Average highs are about 14°C (58°F) and lows about 5°C (41°F), with around nine wet days in the month. Pack a warm layer and a rain jacket for the walk from the metro.
- **Marathon week:** The NN Marathon Rotterdam is on Sunday 11 April 2027, a week after HYROX, so hotels fill up fast around that weekend.

### Race-day tips for this venue

- **Come by metro.** Ahoy says Zuidplein station is about a 5-minute walk away, and it's simpler than fighting for a space in the car park.
- **Mind the evening concerts.** Guus Meeuwis plays the Ahoy Arena at 20:30 on all four HYROX nights, and two of those shows were already sold out. If you race late, expect crowds on the metro and at the exits.
- **Book parking ahead if you drive.** Ahoy's car park costs €21 on the day or €20 booked in advance. P+R Slinge, one metro stop away, is free only with an OV-chipkaart, not with OVpay.
- **Plan around early doors.** The event page says doors open at 07:00 and racing can start as early as 06:30 and run until 22:00. Your bag needs collecting within an hour of finishing.
- **Get spectator tickets.** Spectator tickets are sold separately, so friends and family need their own.
