## Race weekend guide (checked 2026-10-15)

TRAINSWEATEAT HYROX Nice brings four days of racing to the Palais des Expositions, a short walk from the port, Place Garibaldi and the old town. You can stay, eat and train within a few tram stops of the hall. The one thing to know: racing ends on Sunday 1 November, which is a French public holiday, so plan your shopping and travel around it.

### Race weekend at a glance

- **Dates:** Thursday 29 October to Sunday 1 November 2026
- **Venue:** Palais des Expositions de Nice
- **Address:** Parvis de l'Europe, 06000 Nice
- **Nearest public transport:** Palais des Expositions stop on tram line 1, right at the venue (between the République and Vauban stops)
- **Divisions:** HYROX Men and Women, Pro Men and Women, Doubles (Men, Women, Mixed), Pro Doubles (Men, Women), and Men's, Women's and Mixed Relays

### Getting to the venue

**From Nice Côte d'Azur Airport (NCE):** Tram line 2 leaves from Terminals 1 and 2 and reaches the city center in under 30 minutes. Change to tram line 1 at Jean Médecin or Garibaldi, heading toward Hôpital Pasteur, and get off at Palais des Expositions. Allow about 30 minutes in total.

**From Nice-Ville train station:** Walk to the Gare Thiers tram stop just outside and take line 1 toward Hôpital Pasteur. It runs straight to the venue.

**From the city center and Old Nice:** From Garibaldi it's two stops on line 1, and it's an easy walk from the port.

### Where to stay

Stay on the Parvis de l'Europe to roll out of bed and into the hall. Old Nice and the port are a short walk away for restaurants, and the area around Nice-Ville station has a direct tram to the hall.

- **NH Nice:** On the Parvis de l'Europe forecourt of the Palais des Expositions, with a tram stop out front, a gym, a sauna and a rooftop pool.
- **Novotel Nice Centre Vieux Nice:** Right beside the exhibition center on the Esplanade du Parvis de l'Europe, about 100 m from the tram. It has a fitness room and a 7th-floor rooftop pool open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- **ibis Nice Centre Gare:** On avenue Thiers, about 50 m from Nice-Ville station and next to the Gare Thiers stop, so you can ride line 1 straight to the venue.

### Gyms for pre-race training

- **My Time Coaching (Nice Centre):** Calls itself the first HYROX center on the Côte d'Azur. It runs coach-led HYROX sessions with a sled, SkiErg and wall balls. A trial session is offered, but drop-in prices aren't published.
- **Beaulieu Fitness Factory (Beaulieu-sur-Mer):** A cross-training gym east of Nice that the regional tourist board lists as affiliated with HYROX Training Club. It's open weekdays only, and a 10-class pack costs €120. Single drop-in prices aren't confirmed.
- **Hotel gyms (Parvis de l'Europe):** If you're staying at the NH Nice or the Novotel next door, both have their own fitness rooms.

### Where locals run

- **Promenade des Anglais (Seafront):** The famous seafront promenade runs for almost 7 km along the Baie des Anges. It's flat and paved, and locals walk, run and cycle it every day. Walk south from the venue through Old Nice to reach it.
- **Promenade du Paillon (City center):** A 12-hectare green corridor that runs through the city center between Old Nice and Place Masséna. It's flat and great for an easy jog. From October to March it's open 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- **Colline du Château (Old Nice):** The castle hill above the old town has shaded paths and a waterfall. It's steep, so use it for a few strides or a short climb rather than a full run.

### Where to eat and fuel up

- **Chez Pipo (Port):** A socca institution on rue Bavastro, close to the venue, with wood-fired ovens that have been going for about 90 years. Socca, a thin chickpea-flour pancake, is a cheap, light carb top-up. Usually closed Monday and Tuesday.
- **René Socca (Old Nice):** A self-service counter at the northern entrance to the old town, with wooden tables on rue Miralheti.
- **Lu Fran Calin (Old Nice):** At the foot of Sainte-Réparate Cathedral. Order the potato gnocchi or the daube niçoise, a slow-cooked beef stew.
- **Brasserie de l'Union (Libération):** "The home of Nice ravioli since 1949," near the Libération stop on tram line 1. Homemade ravioli makes a good night-before carb load.

### Race weekend events and parties

The confirmed extras are inside the venue: the HYROX Entertainment Zone with event partners, the Thunderdome where you can watch other athletes race, and the Race for Impact charity option. As of 15 October 2026, no official after-party, expo or community run had been announced. Check HYROX France's official channels and https://hyrox.com/ closer to the date.

### After the race

**Recovery:**

- **NH Nice sauna and rooftop pool:** For guests, the closest sauna to the finish line.
- **Novotel rooftop pool:** Guests can loosen up in the 7th-floor pool.
- **Baie des Anges sea dip:** In October, the sea averages around 19°C (67°F), cool enough to refresh tired legs.

**Things to do:**

- Climb the **Colline du Château** for the classic view over the Baie des Anges and the port.
- Browse the flower market on the **Cours Saleya** in Old Nice. It runs Tuesday to Sunday.
- Wander the lanes of **Old Nice** for socca, small shops and cafés.
- Take a slow recovery walk along the **Promenade des Anglais** at sunset.

### Local insights

- **Load a card, then validate every ride:** Nice dropped paper tickets in 2023. Rides go on a rechargeable card sold at tram-stop machines, which take coins and bank cards. A single ride costs €1.70, and you must validate every time you board.
- **Buy the AERO ticket for the airport:** The €10 AERO return from the airport stops covers your trip in and out.
- **Sunday 1 November is Toussaint:** All Saints' Day is a French public holiday, and in 2026 it falls on the final race day. Expect holiday opening hours, and buy food, gels and anything from a pharmacy by Saturday.
- **October is Nice's wettest month:** October averages highs of about 21°C (69°F) and lows of about 13°C (56°F), but it gets the most rain of the year. Pack a light rain jacket for the walk to the hall.
- **The clocks change before race week:** France switches back from daylight saving time on 25 October 2026, so evenings get dark an hour earlier than the week before.
- **Tipping is light:** French restaurant prices include service ("service compris"), and an extra tip is optional. Rounding up is plenty.
- **Uber works here:** Uber operates in Nice around the clock, including airport pickups, handy after a late wave.
- **Socca is the local pre-race carb:** The chickpea pancake, eaten hot with pepper, is everyday street food in Nice. The port district next to the venue has several socca spots.

### Race-day tips for this venue

- **Bring physical ID.** HYROX requires a physical ID card at every check-in. You can't check in for others.
- **Check in on your day only.** Registration for each division opens 90 minutes before its first start wave, and you can only check in on the day you race.
- **Thursday racers can check in early.** HYROX lists an early check-in at the Decathlon in the TNL shopping center (15 boulevard du Général Louis Delfino) from 12 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., for athletes racing on 29 October only. The official page says "Wednesday, October 29," but 29 October 2026 is a Thursday, so confirm the day.
- **Watch for your start time.** Individual start times go out about three days before the event, and changes aren't allowed.
- **Take the tram.** Line 1 stops right at the venue, far easier than parking.
- **Send early spectators to the desk.** Spectators who want in before your wave go to the Spectators Desk with a ticket and ID.
