COMMANDO HYROX Mexico City runs for four days at the Hipódromo de las Américas, on the west side of the city next to Polanco, and HYROX calls it the largest HYROX event in Latin America. You'll be racing at about 2,240 m (7,350 ft), so plan to run more conservatively than at home. The race also lands on Día de Muertos weekend and the same weekend as the Formula 1 Mexico City Grand Prix, so book your hotel early and leave extra time to get around.
Checked 15 October 2026. Details change, so confirm bookings directly.
Your weekend in Mexico City, mapped
Hotels near the venue, gyms for a shakeout session, where to fuel up and where to recover.
Toreo, just north of the venue, has business hotels a few minutes' drive from the start. Polanco is a short drive away and has far more restaurants, plus Chapultepec Park for shakeout runs. Book early, because Formula 1 weekend pushes up hotel demand.

Local insights for Mexico City
The things a friend who lives here would tell you before race weekend.
Respect the altitude
At about 2,240 m, Mexico City is one of the world's highest capitals. Endurance efforts feel harder, and full acclimatization takes days to weeks. Start easier than usual and drink more.
Two mega-events, one weekend
The F1 Grand Prix runs from 30 October to 1 November in the east of the city, and the Día de Muertos parade closes Reforma on Saturday afternoon. Book early and add a buffer to every ride.
Tap your card on the Metro
A Metro ride costs 5 pesos. You can tap a contactless Visa, Mastercard or Amex, or a phone wallet, at the turnstile, and Metrobús accepts contactless too. Microbuses, including those from Cuatro Caminos, usually only take cash.
Airport taxis vs apps
Authorized airport taxis are paid at booths inside the terminal and can cost more than double an Uber or DiDi fare. Apps can't pick you up inside the airport zone, so follow the signs to the outside pickup points.
Drink purified water
Locals drink bottled or garrafón (20-liter jug) water rather than tap water, and most hotels supply it.
Tipping (propina)
In restaurants, people usually tip 10 to 15%. It's voluntary by law, and a restaurant can't add it to your bill without your consent.
Carry some cash
Many classic taco stands, such as El Turix, are cash only.
Pan de muerto season
Bakeries and supermarkets sell pan de muerto, a soft, sugar-topped sweet bread, from late summer through early November. A piece with coffee is a very local pre-race carb top-up.
Getting to Hipódromo de las Américas
From Mexico City International Airport (AICM)
At Terminals 1 and 2, buy an official taxi ticket at one of the authorized booths inside the terminal before you walk out. Uber and DiDi aren't authorized to pick up inside the airport zone, so app pickups happen at points outside it. At Terminal 1, that's on the Circuito Interior near Terminal Aérea Metro station. Allow about 25 to 40 minutes to the venue, depending on traffic.
By Metro
Take Line 2 to its terminus, Toreo/Cuatro Caminos. Then take a taxi, ride-hail car or microbus.
From Polanco
An Uber or DiDi is the easy option. It's a short drive, but leave a traffic buffer.
Race-weekend events
Parties, expos and side events
As of 15 October 2026, no official after-party or community run had been announced. The confirmed extras are the on-site Thunderdome and the HYROX Entertainment Zone. Check HYROX Mexico's official channels and local HYROX clubs as race week gets closer. The city will be busy anyway: the Día de Muertos parade runs on Saturday 31 October at 14:00 along Reforma, and the F1 Grand Prix runs all weekend at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez.
Race-day tips for Hipódromo de las Américas
- 1
Book your ride early
The Metro only gets you as far as Cuatro Caminos, so pre-book a taxi or Uber and leave extra time, especially on Saturday and Sunday.
- 2
Bring ID and come early
On-site registration opens 90 minutes before your division's first wave. You can only check in on your race day, and nobody can check in for you.
- 3
Dress in layers
Early November in the city is dry, with highs around 22°C (72°F) and lows around 10°C (50°F).
- 4
Pace for the altitude
Run your first 1 km slower than your sea-level target.
- 5
Get spectator tickets
Athlete tickets only cover your own race day. Friends watching on other days need a spectator ticket, and early entry goes through the Spectators Desk with a ticket and ID.
