HYROX Guadalajara returns to Expo Guadalajara for three days in March 2027, a year after its February 2026 edition. March is Guadalajara's driest month, and at about 1,566 m (5,138 ft) the city runs warm by day and cool at dawn, so plan hydration and your warm-up with that in mind.

Checked 15 October 2026. Details change, so confirm bookings directly.

Local insights for Guadalajara

The things a friend who lives here would tell you before race weekend.

  • Get a Mi Movilidad card

Tren Ligero, Mi Macro and route buses use the Mi Movilidad card, and the airport line won't take cash. Station sales points and machines sell the card, and you can top it up at Oxxo stores.

  • Use apps, not street taxis

Uber, DiDi and Cabify all work here. Street cabs can cost more at night and when they cross the Periférico ring road.

  • Drink bottled water

Wikivoyage says tap water in Mexico is technically potable, but it isn't generally recommended for drinking. Buy bottled water for race day, and most hotels leave some in your room.

  • Tip 10 to 15%

It's the norm at sit-down restaurants. Street stalls often have just a coin jar, and you don't tip taxi drivers.

  • Fuel up like a tapatío

The city's signature dish is the torta ahogada, crusty birote bread with pork drowned in chile sauce. Birria, goat stewed in a chile adobo with tomato consommé, is the other local favorite. Both are better as post-race rewards than as a pre-race meal.

  • Find a Farmacias Guadalajara

This homegrown chain is open 24 hours and sells medicine, cold drinks and groceries. It's handy for late-night supplies.

  • Expect dry heat

March averages run from 13.5°C (56°F) at night to 28.5°C (83°F) by day, with barely one rainy day. Combined with the altitude, that means you'll need to drink more than usual.

  • Know the holiday calendar

Benito Juárez Day falls on Monday 15 March 2027, before race weekend. Race Sunday is Palm Sunday, since Easter is 28 March, so Holy Week travel begins as you fly home.

Getting to Expo Guadalajara

  • From Guadalajara International Airport (GDL)

The airport is about 18 km south of the city. Mi Macro Aeropuerto (Line 5) opened in June 2026, and one of its three routes runs from the airport to Expo Guadalajara on Avenida Mariano Otero. The fare is 11 pesos, and you can only pay with a Mi Movilidad or Única card. If you don't have one yet, take an official taxi. Buy a fixed-price ticket at the booth inside arrivals, and ignore drivers who approach you at the doors.

  • By Uber or DiDi from the airport

App cars can't pick up at the terminal. Since June 2026 they've used a dedicated zone about 1.5 km away. A free electric shuttle runs to it from international arrivals every five minutes, and The Guadalajara Reporter says the ride takes five to seven minutes.

  • From the city center

Uber, DiDi and Cabify all cover Guadalajara, and an app car from Centro Histórico or Avenida Chapultepec is the easiest way to the Expo.
