Question

What did your last race weekend actually cost?

The ticket is the number everyone talks about, but it's rarely the biggest cost once you add travel, a hotel, food and the spectator ticket for whoever comes to cheer. If you're happy to share: which race, roughly what the whole weekend cost, and the one thing you'd skip or book earlier next time? It'll help people planning their first trip, and it'll show us where to improve the race cost calculator.

Question

How do you split 100 wall balls without falling apart?

Wall balls come last, after 7 km of running and everything else, and race data says they're where most people lose the most time. I keep seeing different strategies: 10 sets of 10, 25-20-20-15-10-10, unbroken until failure then 5s, or straight into 5s from the first rep. What's your split, and what changed when you started training it fatigued instead of fresh?

Partner wanted

Looking for a Doubles or Relay partner? Start here

Finding a partner is one of the most common asks in HYROX, so let's make this the place for it. If you're looking, reply with: - the race (or the area you'd race in) - Doubles, Mixed Doubles or Relay, and Open or Pro - a rough target time, or "just want to finish" - how to reach you (Instagram or X works best) Or start your own Partner wanted thread so people can find it later. You can also flag "Looking for a partner" on your profile: it shows on the community map on the Athletes page.

Why I built a site where brands pay to put their logo on your body

In September, Marc Lou sold the sponsor spots on his body for one HYROX race and raised over $112,000. Brands bid on his chest, his arms, even his glutes, and he raced with their logos as temporary tattoos. Most of us aren't going to raise six figures. But I kept thinking about the smaller version of that idea. Your gym, your physio, the café you go to after training: they'd happily pay $50 to be on your shoulder in your race photos, and that's your ticket covered. So that's RoxSkin. You make a 3D avatar from 4 photos, pick your race, and local businesses bid for spots on you. If someone outbids them, their card hold is released. I'd love to hear your take, good or bad. Would you do it? What would stop you? I read every reply.

Rant

The sled push on race carpet is a different sport

Every gym sled I've pushed glides. Then you read race reports and it's the same story: people hit the carpet at the venue and the sled barely moves. The friction is the point, I get it. But nobody really trains for it, because almost no gym has race carpet. So, rant and question in one: where do you actually train a realistic sled push? Turf, rubber floor, a sled loaded heavier than race weight? And has anyone found a gym that's honest about how close its setup is to race day?

Question

What do you wish someone had told you before your first HYROX?

Hey all, Tim here. I built RoxSkin, and I race HYROX as an amateur like most of you. This board is for the stuff you'd normally ask at your gym, or text the one friend who's done a race. No question is too basic. To kick it off: what's the one thing you wish someone had told you before your first race? Gear, pacing, the warm-up, the queue for the toilets, anything. The best answers will end up in our first-race guide, with credit if you want it.
