HYROX Monterrey returns to Cintermex, the big convention center inside Parque Fundidora, a former steelworks turned into the city's favorite park. You can stay right next to the hall, jog among old blast furnaces the day before, and celebrate with cabrito afterward. The main thing to plan for is mid-April heat, so plan your hydration and do any outdoor running early in the day.

Checked 15 October 2026. Details change, so confirm bookings directly.

Hotels near the venue, gyms for a shakeout session, where to fuel up and where to recover.

The Centro-Fundidora area lets you walk to the hall. Downtown, near the Macroplaza and Barrio Antiguo, has more restaurants and is a Metro ride or riverwalk stroll away. San Pedro Garza García is the upscale, very safe business district to the southwest, but you'll need a car or ride-hail to reach the venue.

Local insights for Monterrey

The things a friend who lives here would tell you before race weekend.

  • Get a Me Muevo card

The Metro is phasing out cash. Pay with a Me Muevo card, which costs MXN 20 with no credit loaded, or with a QR code in the Urbani app. Top up with cash at OXXO. We couldn't confirm tap-to-pay bank cards, so don't count on them. Fares rise 10 centavos a month and were set to reach MXN 11.00 in January 2027.

  • Look for the station's new name

Parque Fundidora station on Line 1 was renamed Arena Monterrey in March 2026. Older maps still show the old name.

  • Use Uber or DiDi

Both work across the city, and travel guides call them the safest and easiest way to get around. Take a taxi only from a stand or one you've called, and make sure the driver uses the meter.

  • Drink bottled water

Tap water is officially potable, but travel guides still recommend bottled or purified water. Be careful with ice at small stands.

  • Carry some pesos

Cards work at hotels and larger restaurants. Smaller family-run places often take cash only, and a few add about 5% for card payments. Tip 10 to 15% at restaurants, but you don't need to tip taxi drivers.

  • Fuel like a regiomontano

Machacado con huevo, dried beef scrambled with eggs, is the classic northern breakfast. Save cabrito and arrachera for your post-race meal.

  • Plan for heat, not crowds

April averages a high of 31°C (88°F) and a low of 18°C (65°F), with only about four or five rainy days. Easter falls on 28 March 2027, so Semana Santa is over well before race weekend.

  • Find a pharmacy nearby

Farmacias Benavides was founded in Monterrey in 1917 and has stores across the city. OXXO stores are everywhere for water and sports drinks.

Getting to Cintermex (Parque Fundidora)

  • From Monterrey International Airport (MTY)

Taxis and ride-hail cars are the easiest option, and race guides put the trip at about 25 to 35 minutes. Since mid-2026, Uber and DiDi pickups have used an authorized bay about 250 meters from Terminal C, and the app shows you how to get there.

  • From downtown and the Macroplaza

Take Metro Line 1 toward Exposición and get off at Y Griega or Arena Monterrey. You can also walk the 2.5 km Paseo Santa Lucía riverwalk from the Macroplaza straight into the park.

  • By car

Cintermex says there are more than 5,000 parking spaces around the venue, including about 2,280 in its own E1 lot.

Parties, expos and side events

Race-day tips for Cintermex (Parque Fundidora)

  1. 1

    Bring photo ID

You must show ID at check-in, and you can only check in on the day you race. You can't check in for anyone else.

  2. 2

    Arrive well before your wave

On-site registration for each division opens 90 minutes before its first start wave, so give yourself a buffer on top of that.

  3. 3

    Have a backup Metro station

If Y Griega is crowded or closed, use Arena Monterrey or Félix U. Gómez and walk in.

  4. 4

    Hydrate before you arrive

Spring heat in Monterrey can be draining. Drink steadily on the day before and the morning of your race.

  5. 5

    Spectators need their own tickets

They weren't on sale as of mid-October 2026, so set an alert.
