HYROX Ottawa brings five days of racing to Canada's capital in late April, just as the city comes out of winter. It's a compact, bilingual city where you can run along a UNESCO-listed canal, eat a BeaverTail in the ByWard Market and cross into Quebec for a Nordic spa in the same weekend. The one thing to know is that, as of 15 October 2026, HYROX hadn't announced the venue, so wait for confirmation before booking a hotel based on location.

Until the venue is confirmed, downtown is the safest base. The area around Parliament Hill and Elgin Street is close to Line 1 and the canal paths. The ByWard Market has the most restaurants and nightlife, a few minutes' walk east.

Take the train from the terminal
O-Train Line 4 runs from the airport's departures level to South Keys, with an easy cross-platform transfer to Line 2. It's a cheap alternative to a taxi if you're staying near the rail lines.
Tap your card
OC Transpo's O-Payment accepts contactless credit cards, debit cards and phone wallets at the adult fare ($4.00 as of 2025) and caps your spending at the day and monthly pass prices. Transfers are free for 90 to 105 minutes.
Pack for winter and spring
Late April averages about 11°C (52°F) by day and close to freezing at night, around 1°C (33°F). Expect rain on about 11 days of the month and the odd snowy day, so bring a warm layer and gloves for early starts.

Cross into Quebec
Ottawa borders Gatineau, Quebec, across the Ottawa River, and Nordik is in nearby Chelsea, Quebec. Expect more French on signs and menus once you cross.
The canal is for running, not skating
The famous 7.8 km Rideau Canal Skateway is a winter-only attraction. By late April, the paths beside the canal are for runners and cyclists.

Getting to the venue
From Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International Airport (YOW)
The O-Train Line 4 airport link, which opened in January 2025, leaves from the terminal's departures level. Ride it two stops to South Keys and switch to Line 2 in the fare-paid zone. For downtown, take Line 2 north to Bayview and change to Line 1 (Confederation Line).
From downtown
Line 1 runs east-west through downtown, and Line 2 runs north-south from Bayview, every 12 minutes. Once the venue is announced, check the OC Transpo trip planner for the best route.

The confirmed extras are the HYROX Entertainment Zone with partners, the Thunderdome viewing area, and age-group ceremonies after each division.
