São Paulo gets a second HYROX of the season in early May, when the city's autumn brings mild days, cool nights and less rain than the summer storms. It's Brazil's food capital and a serious fitness town. The one thing to know: as of 18 October 2026 the venue hadn't been confirmed. The October 2026 race was at Distrito Anhembi in Santana, and one tracker expects a return there, but book refundable rooms until HYROX confirms.

Getting a transit card is awkward for visitors
The Bilhete Único card must be personalized, so foreigners need a passport at an SPTrans store. Most visitors buy QR-code tickets from TOP machines instead. Contactless bank cards work only at a few turnstiles, so look for the symbol.
Ride-hail is the default
Uber and 99 both operate. Book in the official app, wait somewhere safe, and check the car and driver match.
Tipping is on the bill
Restaurants add 10% service. If it says "serviço não incluso", pay 10% anyway.
Tap water is treated but locals filter it
Building tanks aren't always cleaned, so most people drink filtered or bottled water.
Cards and Pix rule
Contactless cards work almost everywhere. Pix, the instant-payment system, needs a Brazilian bank account, so carry a card and a little cash.

Average highs are about 23°C (74°F) and lows about 15°C (58°F), with around 66 mm of rain. Pack a layer for early starts.
Keep your phone out of sight
The UK government warns that phone theft is common in Brazilian cities, especially between 4pm and 9pm. Use ATMs inside malls.
Paulista closes to cars on Sundays
Avenida Paulista becomes a pedestrian street on Sundays and holidays. It's great for a recovery walk, but it gets crowded by midday.
Getting to the venue
From Guarulhos Airport (GRU)
CPTM Line 13-Jade links the airport to the city. An Airport-Express train runs once an hour direct to Luz, where you can change to Metro Line 1-Blue for Portuguesa-Tietê, three stops north. Airport shuttle buses also run to Tietê, Barra Funda and Paulista. Official taxis sell fixed fares at a booth in arrivals, but traffic can stretch the trip to two hours at peak times.
From Congonhas Airport (CGH)
It's much closer to the city. Take a ride-hail car, or the metro to São Judas station and then a short bus.

At Anhembi in 2026, the venue asked taxis and app cars to drop off and pick up on Rua Professor Milton Rodrigues, not on the main avenue.

Once HYROX announces the hall, check which entrance athletes use. In October 2026 the race was in Anhembi's Expo halls 1 and 2.

Check-in opens 90 minutes before your division's first wave, and nobody can check in for you.

At Anhembi, app cars stop on Rua Professor Milton Rodrigues. Parking is through gate 38 and cost R$90 for 12 hours in 2026.

São Paulo traffic is unpredictable, and the walk from Portuguesa-Tietê is about 1.5 km.
