HYROX Basel runs at Messe Basel in Kleinbasel, the city's right bank, a short walk from the Rhine and the old town. The timing is special: the race ends on Sunday 14 February, and Basel's Fasnacht, Switzerland's biggest carnival, kicks off at 4:00 the next morning. Stay one more night if you can, and book your room early.

Kleinbasel, around the Messe and Claraplatz, keeps you within walking distance of the hall, the Rhine and the Lange Erlen park. Your hotel gives you free transit
Hotels in Basel city give overnight guests a BaselCard that works as a transit ticket for your whole stay in zones 10, 11, 13, 14 and 15. Some hotels mark your booking confirmation as a "Mobility-Ticket" so it counts as a provisional ticket for the ride in from the airport, so ask yours before you travel.
Exit the airport on the Swiss side
EuroAirport is on French soil with separate Swiss and French sectors. Bus 50 to Basel leaves from the Swiss sector, while the French side serves bus 11 to Saint-Louis.
Morgestraich is the real deal
At 4:00 on the Monday after the race, Basel switches off its old-town streetlights and the Fasnacht cliques march by lantern light for 72 hours. Expect very full hotels from Sunday night.
Eat Mehlsuppe like a local
Basler Mehlsuppe, a soup thickened with browned flour and served with grated Sbrinz, is what Baslers eat after the Morgestraich with onion tart. It's warming, salty and easy on the stomach after a hard effort.
Sundays are quiet
Swiss labor law mostly keeps shops closed on Sundays, except at major train stations and airports. Shop on Saturday, or use the stores at Basel SBB.

Getting to Messe Basel
From EuroAirport (Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg)
Leave through the Swiss sector and take bus 50 from the arrivals forecourt to Basel SBB. It runs every 7 to 10 minutes and takes about 20 minutes. From Basel SBB, ride the tram to Messeplatz. A taxi from the Swiss side takes about 15 minutes.
From Basel SBB (main station)
Tram line 2 runs to Messeplatz in about 10 minutes. On foot, the walk takes around 25 minutes through the old town and across the Rhine.
From Basel Badischer Bahnhof
If you arrive on a German train, this station is about 5 minutes' walk from Messeplatz, or 2 minutes by tram.

As of 15 October 2026, no official HYROX after-party, expo or community run had been announced. HYROX lists an Entertainment Zone with partners at the venue and Race for Impact charity places. The big confirmed event that weekend isn't HYROX: Basel Fasnacht starts with the Morgestraich at 4:00 on Monday 15 February 2027. Check HYROX's official channels for updates.

Lines 1, 2, 6, 14 and 15 all stop right in front of the venue.

HYROX requires a physical ID at check-in, and photos or digital copies aren't accepted.

You can't check in for someone else, and you need your wristbands, timing chip and bib to race.

HYROX publishes individual start times about three days before the event, and changes aren't allowed.
