You don't pick your HYROX start time. When you book, you choose a race day and a division, and HYROX then places you in a start wave inside that division's time block. At several regions the finish time you estimate at sign-up decides how early in that block you go. Division schedules usually come out about two weeks before the event and personal start times about three days before. Once your time is set, you generally can't change it.

Can you choose your start time when you book?
No. The Benelux FAQ is blunt about it: you can't choose a start time or even state a preference. The US FAQ says the same, and the London event page adds that start time changes aren't permitted.
What you do choose at checkout:
- The day. At multi-day events, each day is sold separately, and your ticket is tied to that day.
- The division. Open, Pro, Doubles, Relay or Adaptive, plus women's, men's or mixed. Each division races in its own time block.
- Your estimated finish time, at some regions. The US FAQ says athletes who estimate the fastest times go in the first waves of their division. If you leave it blank, you're placed in a random wave within your division.
One third-party guide says some events let you indicate a preference at registration, but even then, the final wave is assigned. We couldn't find any official FAQ that offers a choice.
How are Pro, Elite, Open, Doubles and Relay scheduled across the weekend?
Every division gets its own start window, and big events spread the divisions over several days. The pattern below comes from two published 26/27 schedules, London (December 2026) and Denver (November 2026). Both were marked provisional, and other events can look different.
| Division | When it usually races (in these two schedules) |
|---|---|
| Open Singles (men, women, Adaptive) | Every day, with men usually in the morning and women later |
| Open Doubles (men, women, mixed) | Every day, slotted between the Singles blocks |
| Pro Men and Pro Women | One day only (Friday at both events), mid-morning to early afternoon |
| Pro Doubles | One evening only (Saturday at both events) |
| Relay (men's, mixed, women's) | One evening only, in short 10- to 20-minute windows near the end of the day |
| Elite 15 and Challenger 15 | Only at Elite Series events: Singles one evening, Doubles the next |
A few things follow from this:
- Pro and Relay have fewer slots. If you want Pro or Relay, there may be only one day on offer, so there's no "another day" fallback for those divisions.
- The day's schedule runs long. The US FAQ says events normally run from about 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM, and the last start windows in both schedules end around 8:30 PM.
- The times on the schedule are windows, not your time. "Doubles Mixed, 18:40 to 20:30" means every Mixed Doubles wave that day starts somewhere inside that window.
Waves inside a block go off at regular intervals. One third-party guide quotes the rulebook's example of a wave every ten minutes, and others describe waves "a few minutes apart". Wave size and spacing depend on the event and how many people have booked. Fast runners are also split from everyone else on the course itself: the rulebook has a Fast Lane for athletes running about 4:00 per km or faster.
When are HYROX start lists and heat times published?
In two stages, according to the official FAQs:
- About two weeks before: the division schedule. The US and Benelux FAQs say each division's wave times are posted around two weeks out. They're still subject to change.
- About a week before: Benelux says the schedule is finalized roughly a week ahead.
- About three days before: your personal start time. The US, Italy and UK pages say about three days before. Benelux says "no later than" three days before the first day of the event. Thailand says start lists go live from the Wednesday before race day.
- At check-in: your start time is confirmed. In Italy, your race number shows your start time and your position in the wave.
Regional FAQs point to startlist.hyrox.com, linked from each event page, for the official start lists.
Until your personal time is out, keep the whole day free. Benelux advises exactly that, and it's good advice for travel too. Our race weekend budget guide shows how your wave time affects how many hotel nights you need.
Can you change your HYROX start wave?
Generally, no. The London event page says start time changes aren't permitted. Italy's FAQ says no ticket changes are possible on site, start times included. None of the official FAQs we read describes a process for swapping waves.
The same goes for the bigger switches. In 26/27, HYROX doesn't allow moving a ticket to another event, another day or another division, with or without the Flex add-on. Flex and Lite Flex allow one name change, which moves your place to another athlete. They don't move you to a different time.
On race day, the rules are strict:
- You must start in your assigned wave. Starting earlier or later without approval is a disqualification under the 26/27 rulebook.
- If you miss your wave, don't just join the next one. Go straight to a start marshal or staff member and ask. A start with staff approval is fine. One without it isn't. Our judging and penalties guide covers this in more detail.
- Move off with your wave. Hanging around in the start tunnel can cost up to 1 minute.
If you have a genuine clash, such as a flight change or a medical appointment, email the regional customer service team as soon as you know. Nothing we found says they'll be able to help, but asking early gives you the best chance.
What time should you arrive for your HYROX wave?
Most official FAQs say about 90 minutes before your start time. Benelux says 1 to 1.5 hours. Work backward from your start:
| Before your start | What to do |
|---|---|
| 90 min | Arrive, check in with photo ID and your registration confirmation, collect your chip |
| 45–60 min | Drop your bag. The US FAQ warns there may be lines |
| 25–30 min | Start your warm-up |
| 10 min | Be in the start tunnel for the briefing |
Check your division's registration time too. The London page says on-site registration for each division opens 90 minutes before that division's first wave, so if you're in a late wave, you may not be able to check in hours ahead. Your event's athlete guide lists the check-in times.

What if your partner books a different slot?
It depends on what "booked" means, so start by checking whether you're actually on one entry.
Doubles and Relay are team entries. A Doubles pair or a Relay team races as one entry with one start. The Doubles rules require both partners at the start together, and Relay needs all four racers and four chips at the start. So once you're correctly booked as a team, you can't end up in different waves.
The problems come from booking mistakes:
- You each bought your own Doubles ticket. That's two separate teams, potentially on different days or in different waves. Contact customer service straight away. If one of you has Flex, a refund window may cover the duplicate. Our tickets guide explains the windows.
- You each bought a Singles ticket, hoping to race together. Singles athletes in the same division can't request the same wave, and the US FAQ says waves are seeded by estimated finish time or at random. Giving similar estimates may help, but nothing guarantees it. If you want to race side by side, Doubles is the way to do it.
- You booked different days. Tickets can't be moved to another day in 26/27. If one of you has Flex or Lite Flex, the realistic fix is a name change: pass that place to someone else and find a new arrangement.
- Your partner can't race at all. With Flex or Lite Flex, the buyer can change the partner's name once, up to 7:59 AM (event time) the day before your race day. Nothing can be changed at the venue.
Does it vary by event and season?
Yes. Everything above is a pattern, not a guarantee. Regions use different ticketing setups, publish times on slightly different schedules, and change their processes between seasons. Where to check for your race:
- Your confirmation email and your HYROX account, for your ticket, day and division.
- The event page on your regional HYROX site, for the provisional schedule, the start list link and the athlete guide.
- The regional FAQ for the country hosting the race, not the one where you live.
- Customer service for anything the pages don't answer.
You can find upcoming events on our race calendar.
FAQ
Can you pick your HYROX start time?
No. You choose the day and the division when you book, and HYROX assigns your wave. At some regions, the finish time you estimate at sign-up decides how early in your division's block you start, with the fastest estimates first.
When do HYROX start times come out?
Division schedules are usually posted about two weeks before the event, and individual start times about three days before. Benelux says no later than three days before the first day, and Thailand says start lists go live from the Wednesday before race day.
Can I change my HYROX wave?
Generally not. Official event pages say start time changes aren't permitted, and no changes can be made on site. Starting in a different wave without approval is a disqualification. If you have a real clash, contact customer service as early as possible.
What time should I get to a HYROX race?
About 90 minutes before your start time, according to most official FAQs (Benelux says 1 to 1.5 hours). Drop your bag 45 to 60 minutes before, start warming up about 25 to 30 minutes out, and be in the start tunnel 10 minutes before.
Do Doubles partners start at the same time?
Yes. A Doubles team is one entry with one start, and both partners must be at the start together. Problems only arise if you each bought separate tickets, in which case contact customer service.
What day do Pro and Relay race at HYROX?
It depends on the event. In two published 26/27 schedules, Pro Singles raced on one day only and Relays on one evening, in short windows near the end of the day. Check your event page's provisional schedule before you book.
Why does my start time say a range?
The published schedule shows each division's start window. Every wave in that division starts inside it. Your personal start time comes later, usually about three days before the event.
