24/7 FITNESS HYROX Sanya puts the race on Haitang Bay, the resort coast of China's tropical island province. Early December here is warm, dry and sunny, so you race indoors and recover on a beach. The one thing to know: set up your phone before you fly, because paying and getting around both run through apps.

Base yourself on Haitang Bay, where the venue sits at the southern end of a strip of resorts, the CDF duty-free mall and a long runnable beach. Sanya Bay and Dadonghai put you closer to the city's local restaurants, but they're a long taxi ride from the venue on race morning.

Check the Hainan visa-free rule
Hainan's own 30-day visa-free entry covered 61 countries as of August 2026. You must enter through a Hainan port such as Sanya Phoenix Airport and can't continue to the rest of mainland China. Confirm your passport is on the list before you book.
Set up Alipay before you fly
Locals pay by QR code. Alipay and WeChat Pay both let you link a Visa or Mastercard. Do it at home, because your bank's verification text may not arrive once you land.
Use DiDi inside Alipay
There's no Uber. DiDi's mini-program inside Alipay charges your linked card and is often more reliable than the standalone English app.
Get an eSIM before you land
Google, WhatsApp and Instagram are blocked on Chinese networks. Roaming or an international eSIM set up at home usually keeps them working, and Apple Maps works either way.
Drink bottled water
Locals boil or buy their water. Convenience stores sell bottles for a few yuan. Pack your own gels and electrolytes.
Fuel up with Wenchang chicken and coconut
Wenchang chicken with ginger-garlic sauce and rice is the island's classic, and a clean carb-and-protein pre-race meal. Coconut chicken hot pot, cooked in fresh coconut water, is the other local favorite.

December normals are a 27.3°C (81°F) high, a 20.4°C (69°F) low, about four rainy days and 177 hours of sunshine. UV can reach the high range, so wear sunscreen and a cap and run early.
Getting to Sanya Poly International Expo Center
From Sanya Phoenix International Airport (SYX)
Haitang Bay is about 38 km and 30 minutes away by car. Taxi ranks are opposite Gates 4 and 5 of T1 Arrivals and outside Gate 01 at T3, and DiDi works too. On a budget, take the train from the airport station (west of T1) to Yalong Bay station, about 23 minutes for CNY 9, then a short taxi.
From downtown Sanya
Sanya railway station is about 29 km and 35 minutes from Haitang Bay by car. Show your driver the Chinese address above or paste it into DiDi.

As of 15 October 2026, no official after-party, community run or shakeout had been announced for 24/7 FITNESS HYROX Sanya. HYROX says there will be an Entertainment Zone with partners inside the venue, plus race photos through Sportograf. Watch HYROX China's channels and the event page closer to December for updates.
